Your post needs to include the following:
1. What is the meaning of the first poem? (Summarize in one sentence)

2. What is the meaning of the second poem? (Summarize in one sentence)

3. Based on the criteria, which poem did you choose and WHY?

***Please tell me everything you think, but use your best writing.

Here is an example of an advanced/proficient blog post:

“This Is Just to Say” is about a boy who ate plums in the ice box which were cold, sweet, and delicious, which someone was probably saving to have for breakfast, and how he wants them to forgive him. I think this was written to entertain readers with a silly story about someone who ate plums when they weren’t supposed to.

The second poem I read, “Choosing Shoes,” is about someone who wanted to choose shoes but couldn’t and how the person would choose bright shoes or white shoes but another person would choose fat shoes or flat shoes. I think this poem was written to entertain readers about a story about choosing from lots of shoes.

I choose “Choosing Shoes” because it reminds me of a Doctor Seuss book I have. The author used alliteration when they said “Dandy-dance-by-night shoes,” and “Pretty pointy-toe shoes.” My next reason is because the author used repetition when repeating the word shoes. Also, the author used rhyme scheme. The first stanza it was AAAB. “Choosing Shoes” was a great poem, and I hope it wins.

  1. The first poem I read was “Do you carrot all for me?”.It is about a person writing a poem about how they love someone, and how they do food like we make a sweet pear.

I think the winner is “Do you carrot about me?” is the winner because
I like the way they used fruit.

  2. The first poem I read was “Do You Carrot All for Me.” It was a silly story about that replaced adjectives with food that sounded like the adjective. For example, the poem said, “Lettuce marry,” instead of let us marry. I think this poem was written to entertain readers with a silly love note with food.

The second poem I read was “The Castle in the Fire.” It was about a castle on fire and there was a lady in it. A man saw the lady and went and rescued her. I think this poem was written to entertain readers with a storey about a burning castle.

I choose “Do You Carrot All for Me,” to win. I choose it because I like the humor in the poem. I also, liked that it used metaphors to compare two things like in one part it said, “You are a peach,” comparing a something or someone to a peach. The poem had imagery, and it pained a picture in my mind when it talk about how something or someone had a turnip nose and a radish face.

“The Castle in the Fire” is about dragons and knights guarding a castle. The dragons and knights get in a fight with a lady who peeks out behind the castle. After the fight the knight and lady rode away together. I think that this story was written to entertain readers.

In my opinion I think that both were great, but Do you carrot all for me was the the best one. I liked how it included a metaphor in the text it said you are a peach. I think this poem should be the winner out of them all.

  8. The first poem I read ,”Do You Carrot All For Me,” was about a carrot asking another vegtable or fruit if it would marry the carrot. The poet tried to add in vegtables and fruit names to sound like different words. There was some imagery in my mind I was thinking about. I could actually picture out what the carrot would be saying in my mind. I also could picture out what his actions might be like. This is a fun and entertaining poem about a carrot who wants to get married.

The second poem I read ,’ The Castle in the Fire,” is about a knight and some dragons guarding a gate of an old enchanted castle. The people saw a lovely lady’s face. The knight charged at the dragons to have a fight. There was a bunch of dust and smoke that lifted up. When the dust and smoke cleared up the knight was riding along with the lovely lady. The rhyme scheme for this poem I saw was ABCB. I saw some alliteration in the poem where it said ,”While we watched in wonder.” This is a creative and entertaining poem about a romance and a lot of fantasy

I think the poem,”The Castle in the Fire,” should win. I think that poem should win becaus it has rhyme scheme. The rhyme scheme for this poem ABCB. This poem also has alliteration in the poem where it says,” While we watch in wonder.” I also chose this poem because it can be a funny story almost any day you read it.

  9. “Do You Carrot All for Me” is about a person wanting to know if they care about them. They also replaced feeling words with fruits and vegetables.

“The Castle in the Fire” is about a castle with snoke all around it. It has dragons guarding the gates to enter. There is knight dressed in coat of mail. The smoke rose and they saw the knight and the lady riding off.

I think “The Castle in the Fire” is the winner! For example, it uses rhyme scheme in the first paragraph ABCB. It also uses onomatopoeia because it says “ROAR”. That is why I chose “The Castle in the Fire”

  11. The first poem I read “The Castle in the Fire” by Mary. “The Castle in the Fire” is about some children being told a story. They are looking into the fireplace and seeing with their imaginations a castle with dragons to guard the gate. There is a lady inside a window. After that a knight comes riding up to the gate willing to fight to retrieve the lady, but then the backlog in the fire breaks and they can not see the castle anymore but when the smoke clears from the fire they see the knight riding away with the lady. I think this story was supposed to entertain readers about a knight in shining armor, a damsel in distress, and dragons.
The second poem I read was called “Do you Carrot all for me?” by Anonymous. “Do you Carrot all for me?” is about a person asking if someone loves them. The catch is that he keeps on making odd vegetable puns. I think the author's purpose is to entertain readers by telling vegetable puns like “Lettuce marry”.
For me the winner is “The Castle on the Fire” because it is imaginative and oreganile. I also like the rhyme scheme. The rhyme scheme of the first verse is ABCB. I also like how the author used personification to give the dragons person like features because in my mind dragons don’t fight.

I think that the winner should be “The castle and the fire”, I think that because the author uses lots of writers craft, For example The author uses imagery because in my mind I could see what was happening in my mind. She also uses onamonapias like crash. I hope that “The castle and the fire” wins!

  15. “Do you carrot all for me” is about someone telling another person how much they love the other person while using fruits and vegetables. I think this was written to entertain readers with a silly love poem.

The second poem I read, “The Castle in the Fire,” is about a knight who saves a lady from a castle on fire. He does this by fighting a dragon that set the castle on fire and then getting the lady. I think this poem was written to entertain the reader about a brave and kind knight.

I choose “The Castle in the Fire” because it reminds me of a book I have read with dragons and castles. The author used alliteration when she said “A lovely ladies face.” My next reason is there were metaphors such as “The andirons were the dragons.” In the poem there also was rhyme scheme. The first stanza’s was ABCB. “The Castle in the Fire” was a great poem and I hope it wins.

  17. “Do you carrot all for me?” is about a someone asking a person if they love him. I like how the author was being clever, and entertaining. For example, “Weed make a swell pear.” I thought it was cool how the author did that. I liked it a lot.

“The Castle in the Fire” is about a knight who rescues the lady when she is trapped. I thought it was very detailed. The rhyme scheme is ABCB.

I chose “Do you carrot all for me?” as the winner. I thought neat how the author was so creative. There is no rhyme scheme, but I still thought it was good. Think of it as a love story, but with vegetables. I thought it was very good, and I hope it wins!!!

The second poem I read was “The Castle in the Fire”. This is about a castle that has people battling around it. You can tell by it saying “ Ah, ‘twas a brilliant fight”.

I choose “Do you carrot all for me” as the winner because it is a very clever poem. It is clever by saying “Lettuce marry.” It has one metaphor “ You are a peach.” It is the most clever love poem. It also reminds me of when I would watch Veggie Tales and think of how they would say a love poem. I think “Do you carrot all for me” should win March Madness Game Six.

  20. “Do you carrot all for me?” is about someone that is asking someone else if they care for them. They replace words with vegetables and fruits. It’s a funny poem. I like the word play the poet used. This is a great poem.

The second poem I read was “The Castle in the Fire.” It is about a pretty lady and a knight. The knight fights the dragon. It was a brilliant fight. Then, the castle, knight, and dragons were out of sight. When the smoke lifted, they saw to their delight. The pretty lady and the knight.

I choose “Do you carrot all for me?” because of the word play, imagery, and the metaphors. For example, it shows word play when it replaces words with vegetables and fruits. It says, “Do you carrot all for me?” It should say, “Do you care at all for me?” It shows imagery because you can imagine what’s happening. You can tell that it’s about a man/woman writing a love letter. It uses metaphors because it replaces each word with a fruit/vegetable. This is a really funny poem, and I think this should win!

  22. “Do you carrot all for me?” was about a man talking to a woman that he wanted to marry. He used the names of food to create a proposement-like setting like “my heart beets for you”. I think the writer wrote this poem to entertain readers with a fun food and proposement story.

The second poem, “The Castle in the Fire,” Is about a castle on fire due to a dragon invasion. When all seems lost, a knight comes and rescues a lady, fights off the dragons, and when the dust clears he is riding with the lady he saved. I noticed this poem is written in first person.

I think “Do you carrot all for me?” is the winner because it uses great wordplay with names of food. It also reminds me of a TV show my sisters watch called Veggie Tales. It also used imagery. For example, it made me think of lots of boy vegetables trying to get a pear woman’s attention.
“Do you carrot all for me?” is a terrific poem and I really hope it wins.

  23. “Do you carrot all for me?” was the first poem I read. It is about a person that uses real life situations but puts the names of vegetables in it’s place. For example, “My heart beets for you.” Instead of, “My heat beats for you.”

“The Castle in the Fire” was the second poem I read. It is about how a knight that charged a castle with dragons gurding it. The knight charged in and came out perfectly fine with the lady that was there. The rhyme scheme is ABCB. It also has alliteration when it sayl “guarding the gate.”

I chose the winner to be “Do you carrot all for me?” I chose this to be the winner because I like the way it uses vegetables names in real life situations that don’t usuly have them there. It is a silly poem and very entertaining to read. It used repitition in line 3-4 when it says your. I hope this poem wins.

  28. “Do you carrot at all for me?” is about someone asking his girlfriend if she cares for him. He references to a fruit or a vegetable on every line. For example, the author says “Lettuce marry” I think that the author was making a funny poem to talk to his girlfriend. I like how the poem is a funny poem not a boring poem. I also like how the author uses a fruit or veggie to express his feelings for the girl. Also, it uses real phrases for people that are in love. That is what “Do you carrot at all for me” is about.

“The Castle in the Fire” is about a knight winning a fight to save his lady. I like how the author writes the story in a very descriptive first person point of view. The description of the castle reminds me of what I think Hogwarts castle looks like. I like how the author uses a ABCB rhyme scheme. The author uses alliteration when he says, “we watched in wonder” which is alliteration using the letter W. I like how the author uses a metaphor at the start. That is what I think the poem “The Castle in the Fire” is about.

“Do you carrot at all for me?” is the winner. I like how the rhyme scheme is ABCDEFAG. The author uses a fruit or a veggie in every single line which is really cool. The author has a metaphor when he says, “You are a peach.” This poem reminds me of A Series of Unfortunate Events. It reminds me of that because the author states his feelings for a girl out loud, and he wishes for her to love him as he loved her. The author is very descriptive in his way of telling the story. I like how the author made the poem very entertaining. The winner is clearly “Do you carrot at all for me?”

“Do you carrot all for me” is about someone who wrote a love poem with veggies and fruit.

I like “The Castle in the Fire.” It reminds me of Harry Potter in gringotts. With the dragon and the fire. The rhyme scheme is ABAB.

  31. “The Castle in the Fire” is about a knight going to save his lady from some dragons that attacked his castle. “Twas a brilliant fight!” I loved it when they said that, because it reminds me that this story does not take in present day, but it takes place in the past. Also, I think this knight would have to have tons of talent and luck to overcome multiple dragons. I liked this story because my favorite genre is fantasy, and this reminds me of a fantasy story. I think this poem was written to entertain readers with a fun story about a knight saving

“Do you carrot at all for me?” is about someone who loves someone else and uses veggies and fruits to describe their love for the other person. I like this story because I think it is sweet and I like the way they used veggies and fruits as play-on words. I think this story was written to entertain writers with a fun story about love and food.

I pick “The Castle in the Fire” because I thought it was really well written, and it really took me back in time to a mystical place with dragons and knights of shining armor. The rhyme scheme for “Do you carrot at all for me was ABCDEFAG which I did not like that much. The rhyme scheme for this one was ABCB which was better than ABCDEFAG. Also, I like how they made it where he was saving a lady because it reminds me of fantasy stories where the prince saves the princess. I think “The Castle in the Fire” was a really good poem and it deserves to win.

  32. “The Castle in the Fire” is about a castle that was getting attacked by andiron dragons with a lady in the turret in the castle. When they thought it was all over a knight came to save the lady. He got into a fight with the andiron dragons. The spectators could not see the fight because it was covered by smoke. When the smoke went away they saw the night and the lady riding away together. I noticed that it was first person.

“Do you carrot all for me” is a love poem, but it replaces some words with food. For example, in the title instead of care at, it is carrot. I think the author made this poem to entertain readers about a food worded love poem. I noticed that it was first person.

I choose “The Castle in the Fire” as the winner because it used imagery. For example, when it said that the fight was covered in smoke I imagined it in my head. Another reason why is because it used personification. For example, andirons are for fireplaces, not living dragons that try to destroy kingdoms. My third reason is because it used alliteration. For example, one line was, “While we watched the wonder.” my fourth reason is because it used onomatopoeia. For example, it said that the tumult roared. My last reason is because it used rhyme scheme. For example, the first stanza’s rhyme scheme was ABCB. I liked the other poem, but I hope this one wins!

  35. Do you carrot all for me is a funny poem that changes the words into vegetable words. I liked how the writer used great writers craft. For example, do you carrot all for me, they changed care at into carrot. Another example is and your radish face, they changed reddish to radish. I think do you carrot all for me is a funny and powerful poem.
The second poem is called “The Castle in the Fire.” I think is is a love story on how the night sleighed the dragon and saved his princess. It is about how a dragon is trying to take over a kingdom but a night comes and fights him and wins. Then he takes his princess and lives happily ever after. I noticed how the writer used good rhyme scheme and how he used repetition. For example, the rhyme scheme is ABCB. An example for repetition is when it said A lady’s lovely face. “The castle in the Fire” is a lovely and good ending poem.
I think the winner is “Do you carrot all for me” is the winner because it used funny word to replace other words. Another example I think “Do you carrot all for me’’ should win is because it was very powerful. I hope “Do you carrot all for me” wins!

  36. “Do you Carrot all for me?”is about a person that loves someone. He writes a silly little poem that has fruits and vegetables mixed in. For example, he says, “With your turnip nose and radish face.” I think this was meant to entertain the reader about a silly love letter with foods in it also.
“The Castle in the Fire” is about a castle with lady inside and a dragon guarding. A knight was coming to slay the mighty and fierce dragon. As it said and I quote “ Ah, ‘twas a brilliant fight!” The lady was saved and all was well. This was a short fantasy poem, that was a great entertainment.
I choose “Do you Carrot all for me?” because I like the metaphors like, you are peach, your turnip nose, or your radish face. Seconded because I like the funny word. For example, lettuce marry, and weed make a swell pear. That is why I choose “Do you Carrot all for me?”
