This is probably one of my favorite matches of all. They are both funny and entertaining. It will be hard for me to choose my winner in this one. I know I have said that most of the matches. I think “Roger the Dog” has great rhyme scheme and good writer’s craft. Also, I like how “The New Suit” I have a huge connection with the poem, and “The New Suits” writer’s craft is very good also. I know I like both of the poems but I think “The New Suit” should move on to the championship because of all the memories it brings back.
ReplyDeleteI think “Roger the Dog” should win. I like this poem over “The New Suit” because of the poet’s craft. For example, the rhyme scheme of AABBCC on the first six lines. Also it uses alliteration. “Then he flops flat and digs down deep.” Another reason I like this poem is because I can make a strong connection with it. For example, my old dog was very lazy loved to eat. Although she was playful unlike Roger she still loved to sleep.
ReplyDeleteI think,”Roger the Dog” should win because I make a connection with the poem.My dog is really lazy, and likes to sleep in her bed all day. I also think it should win because of the rhyme scheme. The rhyme scheme is.(AABBCC). Another reason I think it should win because of the alliteration. The alliteration is. Dinner dish. I really liked this poem,so I hope it wins.
ReplyDeleteI think the winner is “Roger The Dog”. I have a lazy dog that likes to only get up to eat. He plays around sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI think "The New Suit" should win because of the funnynes and the memories it brings back. I also can make a connection with this poem. I agree with the guy that says it's a hassle to get fitted for suits. also I like comfortable clothes better than new suits. I think "The New Suit" should go on to the championship.
ReplyDeleteI pick “Roger the Dog” over "The News Suit" because I thought it was really funny. The author used couplets in every lines. Which caused the rhyme scheme to be AA BB CC DD GG and so on. Also, “Roger the Dog” used imagery and painted a picture in my mind of a dog being really lazy. Another type of writer’s craft “Roger the Dog” used was alliteration. “Digs down deep” is one example. I hope“Roger the Dog” wins this game and the championship!!
ReplyDeleteI thank the winner is “The new Suit.” Because I like the way it is funny and makes me smile.I Also like the way it is like me because when I go to parties I alway wear a dress, but now I wear a shirt and leggings. The rhyme scheme for the first section is ABCDEF.
ReplyDeleteFor me the winner is “The New Suit”. “The New Suit” is a good example of a clever creative poem.
ReplyDeleteI can make a connection to “The New Suit” because I have been uncomfortable at a birthday party even though it was not mine I still wish that I could have enjoyed it.
I think that "The new suit" should win because it uses onomatopoeias. Some of the onomatopoeias are dribble and drip. I hope that this poem wins!
ReplyDeleteI choose “Roger the Dog” because this dog is just like Scout. Lazy, cute, and a knucklehead. Scout was 18 when he died because was so ill we had to put him down. I like the rhyme scheme. AABBCCDD thats a little. I love how this touches your heart in a special way. What a great poem.
ReplyDeleteI think that ”Roger the Dog” should win because I make a connection with the poem my dog is really lazy and she likes to sleep in her bed all day and I like the rhyme scheme and it is AABBCC.

ReplyDeleteI think the poem,”Roger the Dog,” has a lot better poet’s craft. I think it has better poet’s craft because it has rhyme scheme. The rhyme scheme is AA BB. Also this poem has imagery because I can just imagine A lazy dog that is just not energetic. He is just a log when you try to push or move him. My third reason I think it has better poet’s craft because it has a simile. The sentence the simile is in is,” Then flops flat and digs down deep, Like a miner.” The phrase “Like a miner” is the simile in the poem. My fourth reason I chose this poem to have better poet’s craft is because it ahs alliteration. It has alliteration two times when the poem says,”Flops flat,” and,”Digs down deep.” The last reason I think this poem has better poet’s craft is because it has onomatopeia. It has onomatopeia when the poem says,” He saves his strength for gobble and chomp.” The noises in that phrase are”gobble” and “chomp.”I think this poem has a better meaning to me because I have two dogs that like to play outside, but when my family tries to take them in walks that unwillng to most of the time. They also absolutely love treats to eat. If you give them human food or treats they gobble it down in a matter of seconds. When the poem says,”He hogs the fire, he bakes his head As if it were a loaf of bread.”The part in the poem that says,”He hogs the fire,” reminds me that my dogs like to sit outside in the sun and they get pretty hot. I think this poem was to entertain people on a funny and lazy dog named Roger.
ReplyDelete“Roger the Dog” is the winner because it is a funny poem about a very lazy dog stating that it doesn’t even exercise. Another reason is because I love dogs. Sure I have four cats, but dogs are sweet. I want “Roger the Dog” in the championship!
ReplyDelete“Roger The Dog” is my favorite because I can relate because my dog is lazy like a log she wakes up, and when I leave the house she always goes back to her bed and rest. I also like all of the imagery in this poem it makes me imagine what it looks like. I also like the words that describe what the dog is like. In one sentence it said “he is lazy like a dog.
ReplyDeleteI like “Roger the Dog” because it is funny. I think “Roger the Dog” should win also because it has better rhyme scheme AABBCCDDEEFFHH. It also has a metaphor “You can lug him like a log.” It also has ma lot of couplets. “Roger the Dog” is the clear winner.
ReplyDeleteI choose “Roger the Dog” because I can relate to it, and I love how it uses rhyme scheme. For example aabbcc. I like this poem a lot,so I think it should win.
ReplyDeleteI think that “Roger the Dog,”
ReplyDeleteIs the winner over “The New Suit “
Because I have seveal conections
For example, I used to have a
Dog that was really lazy. I also
Enjoyed the rhyeme sheme
(AABBCC).
I think “Roger the Dog” should win because I love dogs. It is about a dog who will only get up to eat and go to the bathroom. He will get up and eat then flop right back down on his mattress. He will go to the bathroom then plop right back on his bed. I can make a connection to that, One time I was so tired I only got up to eat. Then I just went back to bed. I think it should also win because it has good rhyme scheme. For example, the rhyme scheme is AABBCC and so on. I hope “Roger the Dog” wins!!!
ReplyDelete“The New Suit” I think is better. It used alliteration when it said,’’Striped suit” and “terrific tie”. It used onomatopoeia when it said,”Don’t eat ice cream because it might drip. It used a couplet when it said,”And nothing about chocolate bombs”. The rhyme scheme is ABAC. I hope it wins!
ReplyDeleteI think “Roger the Dog,” should win. Because it has a better rhyme scheme of AABBCCDD. I also can make a better connection with “Roger the Dog” because my dog Brooks would never get up only if there was food or a ball. I think “Roger the dog should win!

ReplyDeleteI think that “Roger the Dog” should win because I like how it was about a dog that was very lazy. I also like the writer’s craft in this poem. For example, alliteration was used when it says “Then flops flat and digs down deep.” I like the rhyme scheme AABB. Every line in this poem used couplets. I hope “Roger the Dog” wins!
I like “Roger the Dog” better. I like the rhyme scheme AABBCC. I also like the alliteration, “flops flat” and “dinner dish.” Or, “digs down deep.” My dog also likes to sleep, but she is not as lazy as Roger. I like all of the details the author put in this poem. When I am reading this poem, I imagine a lazy, shaggy, sleepy dog. I think “Roger the Dog” should win!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think “Roger the Dog” is the winner. I think that poem won because it had a better meaning and I can make a better connection with it. My connection is my dog, Lily, would never get up unless there was food. I also like Roger the dog’s writers craft better because of the alliteration “digs down deep, flops flat, and more. I also like the rhyme scheme of A,A,B,B,C,C as the first six lines. I think “Roger the Dog” deserves to go to the final two against “Mother to Son.”
ReplyDeleteI think “Roger the Dog” should win because of it’s couplets, rhyme scheme, alliteration, and similes. It has couplets in every stanza. For example, the first stanza is, “Asleep he wheezes at his ease. He only wakes up to scratch his flease.” It also has rhyme scheme in that stanza, and it has rhyme scheme in ALL the other stanzas. It has alliteration when it says, “lug him like a log.” That also is a simile. It is comparing him to a log. I can make a connection to Roger because sometimes I just like to be lazy! I hope this poem wins!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI choose “Roger the Dog” because it reminds me of how my pets sleep a lot. It also has better writer’s craft. For example, it has similes and metaphors like “He hogs the fire he bakes his head As if it were a loaf of bread,” and “He’s just a sack of snoring dog.” Also, there is lots of couplets such as “Asleep he wheezes at his ease. He only wakes to scratch his fleas.” Thirdly, there is alliteration like “He’s just a sack of snoring dog.” “Roger the Dog” is a good poem and I think it should win.
ReplyDeleteI think “Roger the Dog” should take the win. This poem uses lots of writers craft. For example, it has rhyme scheme. The rhyme scheme is AABBCC. I can make a connection. Sometimes when I wake up I feel tired and lazy like Roger.
ReplyDeleteI like, “Roger the Dog,” more than “The New Suit.” I like how “Roger the Dog’s” author used couplets and had an AABBCC etc. I also like that the author uses alliteration. For example, he says, “sack of snoring dog,” and “digs down deep.” I also like how the author uses onomatopoeia when he says “gobble and chomp.” This sort of reminds me of my dog, Elvis. Elvis is crazy, but he sometimes is the laziest dog. This also is the opposite of my friend, Hart’s dog, Gus. Gus is hyperactive and he eats small books. He also chases people if they go on the zipline. I think “Roger the Dog” wins this game, and is going to the championship!
ReplyDeleteI think “Roger the Dog” should take the win because it has a funny meaning. Also I have a connection with my old dog that was lazy because he only wakes up to scratch his flea’s and to eat food. The rhyme scheme is AABBCC.That is why I think “Roger the Dog” should take the win.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, “Roger The Dog” is the winner. For example, it uses alliteration when it says,”digs down deep,” “flops flat,” and “sack of snoring.” Also, it has great rhyme scheme (AABBCCDDEEFFGGHH) and rhythm. Couplets are another reason why this poem should win. Every single two lines has them. “Roger The Dog” should win!
ReplyDeleteI think that “Roger the Dog” should win because it has more meaning than “The New Suit” I also like how this poem is very relatable. I really like this poem.
ReplyDeleteI think “Roger the Dog” should win because it reminds me of my dogs at home. It also has a lot of couplets. It has rhyme scheme, the first paragraph are AA. That's why I hope it wins for a third time!
ReplyDeleteI choose “Roger the Dog” as the winner because it entertained me about a very lazy and boring dog. Another reason why is because it was funny how inactive he was. My third reason why is because it used similes. For example, one simile was “ flops flat, and digs down deep like a miner into sleep.” another reason why is because it used alliteration. For example, one line was “He’s just a sack of snoring dog.” one writer's craft they used was repetition. For example, it repeated dog a lot. I also liked the rhyme scheme of AABBCCDDEEFFGGHH. Another reason why is because it used couplets. For example, one couplet was “Asleep he wheezes at his ease. He only wakes to scratch his fleas.” my final reason is because it used imagery. For example, it gave us a good example of how he sleeps. I think this poem is the clear winner.
ReplyDeleteI like “Roger the Dog” better because I thought it was very funny. Also, I really liked it when they used onomatopoeia, and when they said “Gobble.” It was very um.. elaborate ( fancy word for detailed.) The rhyme scheme was AA BB CC DD EE ect. They used a lot of couplets. They used alliteration when they said “Digs down deep” and “Flops flat.” They used repetition when they said “He” alot. They used personification when they said “Digs down deep like a miner into sleep.” Because dogs do not dig like miners. They used similes when they said. “Like a miner into sleep.” I thought they used imagery, because I can imagine the dog being lazy all day.
ReplyDeleteI think “The New Suit” should win. I like this poem because I can relate to it. I have had to go to the Ballet Ball. You have to wear a tux and a bowtie or a regular tie. And also I am more of a cat person than a dog person.
