Mother To Son, has a purpose but, the purpose for me isn't the best. You can kinda see in the poem where it is personal and different. I think that it has a meaning of something, but I just can't seem to find it or put it in to words.
ReplyDeleteThe Eagle, you can tell that the poet wants a way for you and the poem. The poem is different, yes. But in a good way that makes me want to have a mental movie, that I can have. I can be a poem I would like to read many times.
The poem I would like to go far would have to be, the Eagle. You can have that mental movie you sometimes don't get a lot with poems. This poem is different and fun to read. The poet's craft was for the reader to feel like you could see the eagle flying in the air not just in your head.

In the first poem, Mother to Son by Langston Hughes, is about a mother telling her son to not give up. The poem takes place in slave times so she's telling her son don't give up now, for I'm still on my journey. This poem has line breaks and does not rhyme.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, The Eagle by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, is about an eagle standing on the mountain walls about to fly away. This poem rhymes and has no repetition.
My favorite poem was The Eagle because it rhymed and it was easier to read than Mother to Son. It also was shorter and more imagery than Mother to Son.

I think the meaning in Mother to Son is better than the eagle because the eagle is just about a person who see's a bird fall off a mountain ,and that does not have as much meaning than about a mother who is telling her son to never give up hope no matter how hard life gets.

The poem, Mother to Son by Langston, has more meaning to me because I love that the mother is telling the son about the realities of life. It is just like in real life, that everything is not going to go your way. It has WAY more meaning to me than, The Eagle by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, because The Eagle is just about a eagle on a branch. It means nothing to me.
ReplyDeleteI can make a connection with Mother to Son. My connection is that we are learning about slaves and the poem is set in when people had slaves. The mother tells the son not to give up and all of the slaves never gave up.
I love Mother to Son's poet's craft better than The Eagles's. In Mother to Son metaphors and repetition like the mother says life has been no crystal stair. She means that life has not been easy for her. That she had to never give up.
I LOVED Mother to Son WAY better than The Eagle!
