Poetry Madness: Final Four, Game 2!

You will need to read the winners of Game 3 and 4 for this round: 

Roger the Dog and Do You Carrot All For Me?

Your response needs to be a paragraph with at least 3 sentences, but you do not need to summarize the meaning of the poems. Instead, your response should include the following information:

  • Which poem's meaning is more important to you?

    I think Roger the Dog is about a very lazy dog that only wants to sleep and eat.

    I think Do You Carrot All For Me should win because it uses clever word play like Lettuce Marry and With your TURNIP nose.

    I can make a connection with Roger the Dog. My dog will never get up when he is laying somewhere where he is comfterbul.

  5. The first poem I read was "Do You Carrot All for Me". It uses word play and the rhyme scheme is ABCDA.

    The second poem I read was "Rodger the Dog". It is about a lazy dog who doesn't really do anything. It uses AABBCCDD rhyme schemes.

    I think the winner should be Rodger the dog because I like the rhymes and my dog is the same way. My dog is the same way like Rodger. I think that the word play was fabulous.

    Do You Carrot All For Me is about someone asking someone if they care for them in a different way.

    Do You Carrot For Me's meaning is about love and vegetables. My connection is that I like vegetables too, but sometimes I do use wordplays with vegetables. My favorite part about it was the word choice.

  12. The poem that has more meaning to me is Do You Carrot All For Me? Because even though it is in silly form a person is still asking another person if she cares at all for him.
    The poem I can make a connection with is Roger The Dog. Because my aunt and uncles dog Piper is kind of like Roger.
    The poem I choose is Do You Carrot All For Me? Because it is a funny poem. Some things I noticed are that it doesn't rhyme and has word play.

  15. Do you carrot at all foe me? Is a poem about a man asking a woman if she cares at all for him but using vegetables and fruits instead of real words.
    Roger the Dog is a poem about a boy describing his dog. His dog uses all his strength to eat and then all he dose is sleep.
    I choose Do you carrot at all for me to win because I really like it's word play for example: If we can cantaloupe. I really think this poem should win because it's got great word play.

  16. The first poem I read was "Roger The Dog". It was about a dog that only eats and sleeps and does nothing else. The second poem I read was "do you carrot all for me?" and it was about a man telling a woman that he loves her and wants to marry her, but he uses fruit names instead of real words. The poem I want to win is "Roger the dog" because it was funnier and I had a connection with my dog.

    I made a connection with ,Do You Carrot At All For Me, because I have a dog that is like the person in the story always needing to know if he is loved.
