  1. I think Mother To Son should win the championship because it is meaningful to me. My brother and my mother share a special bond that is precious and I can relate with that seeing how my own friendships are going. That is why I am voting for Mother To Son.

  2. The first poem I read was "Roger the Dog," and it is about a dog who sleeps all day and saves his strength for eating.

The second poem I read was "Mother to Son," and it is about a mom telling her son that life isn't going to be perfect.

The poem I choose is "Roger the Dog" because it was funnier and I have a connection with Marley.

I think that Life Doesn't Frighten Me should win because it is strengthening. I can connect to Life Doesn't Frighten Me. Some times life just does not frighten me. What I like about in Roger the Dog's poet craft is that there is a lot of it. For example, there is personification and a really good theme to this poem. The theme is Lazy.

  10. I think that Mother to Son deserves to win because we have been learning about the Civil war and slavery so I think that I made a connection with this poem. I feel as though this poem has a deeper meaning and has more of a background story to it. You can also learn a very valuable lesson from it. Another reason I picked this poem to win is because I think that it flows beautifully and has a great rhythm. I also noticed it's great rhyme scheme.

Mother to son is about a mother teaching her son to keep on going no matter what happens. It uses A, B, C, D, E rhyme schemes.

Rodger the dog is about a really lazy dog that doesn't do much. It uses AA, BB, CC, rhyme schemes.

I think the winner should be Rodger the dog because it inspired and entertained me more. I liked the rhymes and the rhyme schemes. It maid me feel lazy for a second. When I made a mental movie I saw my self as a lazy dog who saved my strength to gobble and chomp. RODGER THE DOG SHOULD WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mother to Son is about a mother who is telling her son that even though you are going through a hard time you have to preserver and get through it.

I think Mother To Son should win because it is a wonderful poem about how even though you are going through a hard time you must preserver because God will help you no matter what. Don't lose hope is the moral of Mother to Son.
