Here is an example of a proficient blog post:

I chose the poem “Choosing Shoes,” by Ffrida Wolfe, because I like how she uses alliteration. For example, she says, “Dandy-dance-by-night shoes” and “Pretty pointy-toe shoes.” I also like it more because it has lots of interesting words and sounds like a kid’s rap song. Finally, I like it more because it is about having to find the shoe that you want out of millions.  “Choosing Shoes” is the clear winner!

  7. I choose “Choosing Shoes,” by Ffrida Wolfe as the better poem. I choose “Choosing Shoes” because I like how she uses rhyme scheme. It is AAAB. Another poet’s craft that she uses is repetition. An example of the repetition is when she says “New shoes, new shoes.” I also like how the poem at first seems really happy and excited, but in the last stanza when she gets to the shoes she doesn’t like it sounds really grumpy. I choose “Choosing Shoes as the better poem.

  9. The first poem “Choosing Shoes” is about choosing the right pair of shoes. And which one do they think is the right shoe for them. The second poem “Casey at the Bat '' is about a star baseball player with a lot of confidence and he waits to get two strikes and then get a home run like he always does but then he strikes out and everyone is very upset, even Casey. I think that the first poem “Choosing Shoes” should be the winning poem because of the rhyme scheme and the repotion. The rhyme scheme for example, NEW SHOES, NEW SHOES, PINK AND RED AND BLUE SHOES. And the repetition of the word shoes. - Livi

  15. I have read two poems. The first poem that I read is called “Casey at the Bat.” The second poem that I read is called “Choosing Shoes.” The poem that I think should win poetry madness is “Choosing shoes.” I have chosen this poem because I can make a connection to it, I love the poet’s craft it uses , and I enjoy the story it tells. The connection that I have made is this, in “Choosing Shoes” there are many different types of shoes, pretty shoes, fun shoes and lots more, but when it comes to actually buying shoes the customers always come with the boring shoes. This is kind of like when it comes to buying things for me. For example, I‘ll want something but I always end up getting something that I have to get. The writer’s craft that I enjoyed was the alliteration. For example, “Pretty pointy- toe shoes,” and “Dandy-dance -by-night shoes.” This poem is the clear winner!
