  2. I think the poem, “Roger the Dog,” should win. I connect to it because I am sometimes really lazy too. My other connection I have with it is that when I give my dog dinner, she empties her bowl. I like the poet’s craft because it has alliteration. For example, the text says,” Lug him like a log,” and, “ Dinner dish.” I also like the rhyme scheme of AA and so on. to me

I think “Roger The Dog” is the easy winner. In every single line there is writer's craft. So how could you not choose it.

I can connect with “Roger The Dog” the most because I saw a dog who was almost 2 feet. The dog was really fat and when he tried to run he just barely joged. Also, he was very cute too and I could see roger being cute too.

The poem with the better writer's craft is “Roger The Dog.” “Roger The Dog” has 8 couplets. For example, “asleep he wheezes at his ease.”

“He Only wakes to scratch his fleas.” Also, there is alliteration. For example, “Flops flat then digs down deep.

The easy winner is “Roger The Dog.”

  27. I have read two poems. The first poem that I have read is called “Casey At The Bat,” by Ernest Lawrence Thayer. The second poem that I read is called “Roger the Dog,” by Ted Hughes. The poem that I think should win poetry madness is “ Roger the Dog.” I have chosen this poem because I can make a connection to it and I enjoy the writer’s craft that uses. I connect to this poem because I have a dog named Bear. Bear is similar to Roger because she loves to sleep and eat. Even though Bear loves to do these things she is not lazy like Roger because she loves to run and play. That is why I connect to this poem. I like the writer’s craft because it uses alliteration and couplets. For example, “Dinner Dish,” and “ Digs down deep.” Here is an example of couplets, “He will not race, he will not romp, he saves his strength for gobble and chomp.” This is a great poem. I hope that “Roger the Dog” wins.
