Dear Writers,
In writing, we learned to improve our writing by presenting counter arguments in our essays. Today, I will give you a thesis statement for which you must write a counter argument paragraph. Remember a counter argument has the following structure:
Although (thesis statement), some may argue that (counter argument). For example,(evidence for counter argument). However, (evidence for your thesis). Closing sentencerestating your thesis.
Although I love ice cream, some may argue that cake is better. For example, cake is used for celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, and baby showers. However, one can have ice cream cake or cake batter ice cream for any occasion. I love ice cream because it is the most wonderful, versatile treat!
Now, it is your turn. Write a counter argument paragraph for the following thesis statement:
Children should be able to have a T.V. in their room.

Although I think that children should have T.V.s in their rooms, some might argue that they shouldn't. For example, they might stay up late watching T.V. However when they are home from school they will stay in their rooms and not bug you. Children should have T.V.s in their rooms.
ReplyDeleteAlthough children should have a T.V. in their room, some may argue that having no T.V. is better. For example, Some people might think that a T.V. in your room would keep you up all night or be to bright to sleep. I think having a T.V. in your room is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think that children should have a T.V. in their rooms, some may argue that they should not. For example, they might watch the T.V. for to long and not get their homework done. However, children won't argue about what to watch. I think having a T.V in your room is important.

However, when it is time to go to sleep, or when someone lost it the parents could just take the remote away! I think I children should have a T.V. in their room.
ReplyDeleteAlthough some may think that children should be able to have a T.V in their room I argue that they shouldn't. For example, kids could go into their rooms lock their doors and tell their parents that they are doing their homework when they are just watching T.V! Also if they have a sleepover with someone they could just wait till everyone has fallen asleep and watch T.V the whole night. That is why I think children should not have a T.V in their room.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I think kids should have T.V.s in there rooms, some my argue that thy shouldin't until there older. For example they think that they will watch T.V all the time. However I think that they would be very very good because they would not bother there siblings. That is why I think kids should have T.V.s in there rooms.
ReplyDeleteHaving a tv in your room is totally worth it. Although parents might say that having a tv in your room is bad because, it will hurt your brain. However, it would be good cause if they want to watch tv in the morning than they wont wake you up. That is why it is better to have a tv in your room.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think that children should have T.V's in their room, some parents might think that their child should rather not. For example having no T.V. in your room means that they will not sneak on the T.V at night or when they are not supposed to, like when they are supposed to be doing their homework. However if you have a T.V. when you are a child, you will not bother your mom or dad if they are watching something in the family room on T.V. and they do not want you to be in there or watch it. Children should definitely have their own T.V.'s.

For example, if it is on a school night you might stay up and watch T.V and you will be tired in the morning and you might be late to school. However, if you do have T.V in your room you won't have to go downstairs and wait for people to get off the T.V. you could just watch it in your room
ReplyDeleteAlthough children want a t.v. in their room, some adults don't want them to have them. For example, they may not get any sleep or they may watch t.v. instead of studeing for the test. If you did study and you will not stay up too late, I think it would be o.k.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think children should have a T.V. in their room, some may argue that children should only be able to watch T.V. in their living room. For example, if you have a T.V. in your room you might be tempted to sneak it at night and will be tired in the morning. However, you will be able to lye in bed while watching your T.V. and that will give more comfort and might even relieve some stress you have on your back at the time. I think children should be able to have a T.V. in their room because it relieves more stress.
ReplyDeleteI think children should be able to have a T.V. in their room, but some may argue that you could be doing something like a puzzle to use your brain. But having a T.V. in your room can entertain you, keep you from bugging their siblings,& in the mornings insted of waking your parents up you could stay in your room and watch T.V. Those are my reasons that I think that having a T.V. in your room is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteAlthough children want a .T.V. in there room, some parents think that having a .T.V. in a child's room is not a good idea. For example, parents/adults may think we will spend all our time on it. However I think that it would be a marvolous idea because then kids don't have to watch television in the living room. Also there would be no fighting over the remote and what to watch because you have your own .T.V. to watch whatever you want.

For example, they may stay up at night watching t.v. without their parents permission. However, in this generation children are already gaining trust and respect at a very young age. T.V. should be a privilage that all children should have.

However, children should have their a T.V. in their room because if the T.V.'s are taken then they can watch it in their room.
ReplyDeleteAlthough having a T.V in my room is wonderful I think having a T.V on every wall in the house is better because if you wont to w och soothing different then your siblings or parents just w och it somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteAlthough some people think that you should have a T.V. in there room I disagree. For example, they may say you wont bother your siblings or argue what to watch. When you could just be in your room. However, I think you need to spend quality time together. And your siblings can choose there show and after that show is over they can watch yours.
ReplyDeleteAlthough some people have a t.v. in their room, some may argue that they should not have a t.v. in their room. I think people with siblings should not have a t.v. in their room so they don't fight over which channel to watch or fighting whoever gets the remote first. If you are an only child it would not be as bad because you don't fight over the t.v.... I think people should just take turns after 30 or 40 minutes.
