Dear Writers,
In writing, we learned to improve our writing by presenting counter arguments in our essays. Today, I will give you a thesis statement for which you must write a counter argument paragraph. Remember a counter argument has the following structure:
Although (thesis statement), some may argue that (counter argument). For example,(evidence for counter argument). However, (evidence for your thesis). Closing sentencerestating your thesis.
Although I love ice cream, some may argue that cake is better. For example, cake is used for celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, and baby showers. However, one can have ice cream cake or cake batter ice cream for any occasion. I love ice cream because it is the most wonderful, versatile treat!
Now, it is your turn. Write a counter argument paragraph for the following thesis statement:
Kids should be paid for making good grades.

Although I think kids should be paid for good grades, some may think that be rewarded in other ways for grades. For example, candy, small prizes, and toys. However, money will encourage kids the most because they can use that money to get whatever they want instead of having to choose from a cheesy box. I think kids should be paid for good grades because it encourages them to try harder in school.
ReplyDeleteKids should be paid for good grades because we work our heads study for the test or essay to get the grades.For example I stayed up till 9:00 trying to study for my test.But some people might argue the oppsite (*cough*cough* The teachers*cough* cough*parenets*cough).Get paid enough for our school but we work really hard. Thats why I think kids should get paid for good grades.

ReplyDeleteI think kids should get paid for getting good grades because it makes them look forward to report cards, try to do their best in all of their school work, and most of all if they got bad grades they will push theirsevels to get better grades. That's why I think getting paid for getting good grades is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think kids should get payed for getting good grades, you could go on vacation after a long time of getting good grades. I would think money is better because you could buy a toy and play with it a long time instead of going on a short vacation.

For example, if someone is a strait A student then they would make a hundred bucks a month! And if they had a sibling that was not as good as they are then the other might only be making 12 dollars a week! That would not be fair! That is why I think children should not be paid for getting good grades.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I think kids should be paid for good grads some grew that that should earn pride incised of mun y. For example, Crispy creme gives away free donuts for every four. But If you get mun y you can by it. So I think kids should be paid in cash.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I think that you should get money for good grades people might say that it isn't a good idea. They might say that because it isn't that big of an accomplishment that is worth giving money out. However, it might be good because if you do give them money they will maybe spend a little bit but they will save their money. Which might be good because they aren't wasting money. Also, they might do more chores since you gave them money.

ReplyDeleteAlthough some people may think that you should git payed if you git good grades I agree. For example, some may think you should git a prize or get to watch a movie or something like that. But I think if you git payed you may work harder in school if you are saving up you may work even harder if you are persevered to git that thing.
ReplyDeleteAlthough people should get payed by chores and good grades, I think we should get treats instead so we don't wasted our parents money. We should get maybe a little bit of money for good grades like 2:00 $.
