Read Game 4 poems, If and Who Has Seen the Wind. Answer each question below. The second poem, Casey at Bat, is about a boy whose baseball team is losing,but there are two people on base. Casey gets two strikes, and the crowd is very upset. Finally, Casey strikes out, and the crowd is outraged.
For the winner, I choose The Eagle. I choose it because it had a deeper meaning and understanding for me. I also liked how used a rhyme scheme of AAABBB. Also, the author used a simile comparing the eagle to a thunderbolt, "He watches from his mountain walls, And like a thunderbolt he falls." That is why I choose The Eagle.
The first, poem, Who Has Seen The Wind, is about a wind passing through, and the author is giving examples about when you know the wind has come.

For the winner, I chose If because he carefully explains to his son what he needs to have to become one of him, and from the way he said it, I know that his son would try. Well, I surely know I would try if my father gave such a speech!
The first poem I read was Who has Seen the Wind, I think it was a great poem because Christina Rossetti describes the wind in ways that we know it is their without seeing it.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem I read, If, was very powerful how it described things that almost nobody does and tells his son that if he wants to become a man he will have to do these things.
I think that If deserves to win because of its strong influence on his sons character.

ReplyDeleteThe second poem is, Who Has Seen The Wind? It is about a person asking people if they have seen the wind. They haven't but in the end feel the wind.
The poem I choose for the winner is If because I think that it is about a father who is telling his son wise things to do. Some things I noticed is that it has repetition. Also, I noticed it rhymes.
The first poem I read was Who has Seen the Wind. This poem is about a person who does not know where the wind is.

Who has Seen the Wind is about a person saying that no one has seen the wind but we all know it's there.
ReplyDeleteIf~ is about how if someone has done something wrong to you don't do it back, if you do something wrong, change it, don't treat others like your better than them, and always be kind.
I choose If~ to win because I like the meaning of it. It is a nice meaningful story that you should follow after. I think that poem has a very strong meaning and I think it should win.
The first poem, Who has seen the wind is about a person telling everyone that no one can see the wind, but everyone knows that the wind is there.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, If~, is about if someone does something wrong or bad to a you or a person, you should never ever do it back, or never join in on the bad person.
I chose If~ because it really has a great lesson to it that everyone should do and respect. I love that it has a repetition, for the word If. This poem also had lots of detail and was very long, and a very great life lesson for those who are not appreciated. That is why I chose the poem, If~.

I choose If~ because it has 4 stanzas and has a rhyme pattern of AAAABCBCDEDEFGFGHIHIJKJKLMAMNOAOPQRS.
The first poem, IF~, is about a Father telling his son about, when someone is telling or doing something bad to you, or somebody else you should not join in but stand up for that person or for yourself. I love that it has repetition of the word IF~.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Who Has Seen The Wind, is about a person who thinks and is telling everybody that you can't see the wind, But you can tell its there by seeing the wind threw the trees and wind.
The poem I choose was Who Has Seen The Wind, I love the repetition in the story saying ''Who has seen the wind'' at the beginning of every stanza. I like that in the first part the person is talking and in the other part the people are talking back to the other person.
The first poem, Who Has Seen The Wind, is about seeing the effects of the wind but not the real wind.

ReplyDeleteThe second poem, If--, is about a boys father telling him to never listen to people when they say mean stuff. The dad is also telling his son how to be a man, and that he will be a man.
I choose If--, because I love the theme and that my dad sometimes say that. The theme is never listen to anybody who are trying to make you feel down in the dumps.
The first poem ,If-, is about a father who is telling his son how to be a man. I think this because at the very end of If- the poem says, "you'll be a man- my son." I also think it is about how you should go threw life and live your life. I think the poem If- is an amazing poem that I think has a wonderful meaning that you should hold on to for life.
ReplyDeleteI think Who Has Seen The WInd is about howe you can't see the wind but you can see the effects of the wind. To go a little deeper I think Who Has Seen The Wind is also about how you can't see whats coming in life but sometimes you can sense it might be coming. Foe example, is your grandmother is very sick and in the hospital you might sense she might die.
I choose If- as the winner because I can relate to the poem If-. I can relate to If- because in third grade (not at oak hill, at my other school) I was bullied and I let there actions and words get to me. I can also relate to If- because I have to remember that even though someone said your weird or stupid or ugly, doesn't means its true because every one os unique in there own special way.
The first poem ,Who has Seen the Wind?, is about if anyone has seen the wind. Even though it passes through trees you still can't see it. The rhyme sceme is: ABCBABCB.

If~ is about how only God and Jesus are perfect. Who Has Seen The Wind? is about how you can't see the wind, but you know it's there. Who Has Seen The Wind? has rhyme scheme in it. I think the winner should be If~, because it really means something to me.

My favorite story was ,"If," because I liked how the dad was telling the son how to grow up to be a man and to be a little like him. And I also thought that it was a very sweet and nice story.
I pick Who has seen the Wind because it was touching and was a beautiful story. The rhyme scheme: was ABAB.

If is about someone who is saying what if they could do something their own the rhyme scheme was: A,A,B,B,C,C... The poem Who has seen the Wind is a really nice story about a person trying to see the wind when it move and pushes down the leaves, so I think Who has seen the Wind should win.
ReplyDeleteThe first poem ,"Some One," was about a person ho heard someone knocking on the door. So he looked out side and all their was,was the silent night and he just heard owls and crickets chirping.
ReplyDeleteThe second story was ,"Life Does Not Frighten Me," and it is about a person and he is saying that I am really not afraid of anything. He also was saying he is not afraid of anything most people are afraid off for example, he is not afraid of like ghosts the dark,or strangers.
My favorite story was probley ,"Life Does Not Scare Me," because I liked ho he just is not scard. and how he does not weary at all. And I thought that the rimes were really good.
