I think that the poem,”Roger The Dog,” should win because it has rhyme scheme. It is AABBCC. Also it has personification. It is “he hogs the fire and bakes his head.” Also there is a simile. It is “as if he were a loaf of bread.” It also has alliteration. It is “he hogs.” I can make a connection because my dog goes on 6 mile runs everyday so sometimes after he is very tired and lazy. I think this poem should win.

I chose ‘’Roger the Dog.’’ I chose this poem because it is humorous, and I love funny poems. For example, He only wakes to scratch his fleas. I also like the alliteration like ‘’bakes bread’’ or ‘’lug him like a log.’’ One other reason I like this poem is because of the onomatopoeia. For example, gobble, chomp, and flop. This is why I chose ‘’Roger the Dog.’’
ReplyDeleteI think¨Roger the Dog”should win because the poem is about a dog who is very sleepy and will only wake up if he can eat his food. I like how the author used has a rhyme scheme of AABBCCDDEEFFGGHH so in each paragraph there is two sentences and in the paragraph all of them rhyme.I like how the author said,¨He hogs the fire he bakes his head like a piece of bread.¨ I like how the author used alliteration for example ¨Digs down deep¨ This is why I choose this poem.

I choose “Roger The Dog” because it is very funny. I also like the poem because it is about a dog, and I am a dog person. I like the meaning in “Roger The Dog” because I can relate that sometimes all I want to do is eat and sleep. I also like the writer’s craft in “Roger The Dog” like when it has so many couplets. I like the repetition in “Roger The Dog” to when it says, “He will,” all the time. I can make a connection with “Roger The Dog” because all sometimes my puppy [well not so much a puppy anymore] likes to do is sleep and eat food. “Roger The Dog” is a definite winner.

“The Castle in the Fire” is good because it is emotional and funny a dragon came and blew his fire and burned the castle and a brave person tried to save the day but he did not he failed completely. I can make a lot of connections with this because I like dragons they are cool.
ReplyDelete“Roger the Dog” I like because I have a dog and he is the opposite of Roger is lazy my dog is fast hyper they both like eating it a lot to so they have things in common. Roger hogs the fire and is only hyper for dinner. I think the winner is “The Castle in the Fire” because it is emotional and funny a dragon came and burned the castle a brave person tried to save the day but he did not.

I think that “Roger the Dog” should win because it has similes like “He bakes his head as if it were a loaf of bread “.I also like how there is onamonapia “wheezes, snoring ,gobble, and chomp”.I also like that the author put in some alliteration like”sack of snoring dog, dinner dish, flops flat, digs down deep, and ,he hogs”.I also like how that Ted Hughes adds so much detail.I like how that it reminds me of a old dog and that the owner lives on a farm.I think that “Roger the Dog “should win.

I think the poem, “Roger the Dog,” should because it was a better poem overall here's why.First off the rhyme scheme was very good it’s pattern is AABBCCDD and so on.Second, The alliteration was great like race and romp or flops flat, digs down deep, and dinner dish.Lastly, The the metaphor, “Like a miner, into sleep,” was a great metaphor and ending for this story. Here’s why I choose the poem, “Roger the Dog.”

For the winner I choose “Roger the Dog” by Ted Hughes. I choose this poem for the winner because It means more to me. This poem means more to me because I have a lazy dog that will just sleep all day, his name is Morty. This poem also uses imagery when It describes how he sleeps and how he sleeps by the fire and bakes his head like a loaf of bread. This poem had a great rhyme scheme of AABBCCDDEEFFGGHH. I enjoyed this poem.

I chose “Roger the Dog” because of many reasons but I'm only going to tell you three. Reason one is because of the poets craft. For example, the theme is way better humorous > dramatic fantasy. I also like the couplets, ease-fleas, head-bread, foot-put, exercise-eyes, romp-chomp, wish-dish, and deep-sleep. There is also alliteration, digs down deep. The last poets craft I am going to name is personification he bakes his head. Reason duos, how I can relate to this poem. Like, this reminds me of my dog, Otis, who is super duper lazy. Last reason, was because it makes me feel good inside and just great because it is about dogs and who doesn’t love dogs. This is definitely the best pick.

I choose “Roger the Dog” because I have two dogs, and I love them. Some writer craft is similes because it says “he bakes his head near the fire like a loaf of bread. Another one is rhyme scheme “ asleep he weezes at his ease, he only wakes to scratch his fleas”. The third one are couplets because each line it has two rhyming sentences.
ReplyDelete“Roger the Dog” is a clear winner.

“Castle in the Fire” is a better poem than “Roger the Dog.” I think that this poem is better because it tells a better story, and it is interesting. I like this poem more because it also has alliteration when it says “Guard the gate.” I enjoy this poem because it has a knight in it. That’s why this poem should win.
ReplyDeleteI choose the poem,” Roger The dog,” to win because it has a funny meaning to me when it says,”You can roll him with your foot, He’ll stay snoring where he’s put.”I think it meant that you can try to wake him up however you’d like, but he will stay sleeping and be really lazy, until it is time to eat. I can relate to,” Roger The Dog,” because sometimes all we want to do is sleep and have a lazy day. The writer’s craft in the poem,” Roger The Dog,” has 8 couplets which is the whole poem. For an example of on of the couplets is,” He’ll work as hard as you could wish, Emptying his dinner dish.” That couplet right there also had alliteration when it said,” Dinner dish.” This poem made me laugh when it said,” He will not race, he will not romp, He saves his energy to gobble and chomp.” This poem made me think of how lazy my dogs are, but they are not as lazy as this dog Roger. I felt like the emotion or mood was very hilarious, because everybody loves a good lazy dog poem.

I think “Castle In The Fire” by Jane Carr should win because it has a rhyme scheme of ABCB. It also has repetition. I like this poem because I like fantasy about dragons. This poem is better than “Roger The Dog” because it is a longer poem than “ Roger The Dog.”

“ Roger The Dog” is my pick. It’s about a lazy dog just like my dog sometimes. Also it has personification in most of it,for example, “Then flop’s flat, and digs down deep, like a miner, into sleep.”. I also liked it because it describing the dog in a funny way. This is why roger the dog should win.

I am going choose “Do you carrot all for me.” The metaphor is “You are a peach.” I can make a connection to it. My connection is that I use the most cheesy puns on the pizza. (get it?) I also can make a connection that I am forced to eat. I know it will win.

I chose “Who Has Seen the Wind” by Christina Rossetti. It’s talks about that no one has seen the wind but the trees feel it when it rocks to the sides. A connection I had with this story is I feel the wind to like how the trees do. There’s also rhyme scheme with “Who has seen the wind neither I nor you: but when the leaves hang trembling, the wind is passing through.
ReplyDeleteI think”Do You Carrot All For Me” is the clear winner. Here are some reasons why. #1. The poem has imagery because it talks about her radish face and turnip nose. #2. The poem has alliteration, because it says,”You are a peach.” #3. The poem has a deeper meaning to me. The meaning is you can be as creative with a love note as possible. That’s why this poem is a clear winner.
ReplyDeleteThe poem, “Do you Carrot All For Me” by Anonymous, is a very funny poem. It has romance in it to. This poem is much more energetic and exciting than “Who has Seen the Wind?” This uses Writer’s craft in a very smart way. They use personification in their poem. For example, “You are a peach,” You can’t be a peach in real life. Unless it’s Halloween. This poem is one of my favorites from poetry madness. I had to pick this fun and powerful poem over “Who has Seen the Wind?”
ReplyDeleteI chose ”Do you carrot all for me?” as the winner. One reason is that I can make a connection with the poem. In the poem it has different vegetables replacing the words, so my connection is I have to vegetables, and I do not like it! It also has great writers craft. It has personification when it was using vegetables as the words. It also has a metaphor when it said,”You are a peach. “Do you carrot all for me” is clearly the winner.

I chose”Who has seen the Wind,”I think this poem should win.It has a lot of writers craft such as rhyme scheme for example ABCB.Another kind of writer's craft is repetition the author makes who has seen the wind repeat. This poem is a definite winner.

I like the poem “Do You Carrot all for Me,” by Anonymous, because it is really funny how the author adds all of the words that make no sense with fruit and vegetables. I like the alliteration how it says “We will be a swell pear” when they will not be a real pear. They will just be together. I also like how it is in random words, and it just sounds like an interesting poem that I would like. I do not like “Who has Seen the Wind” as much because it is about nobody being able to see wind and it is not as funny. That is why I like “Do You Carrot all for Me” more.
ReplyDeleteAsher
I think “Who Has Seen the Wind?” should win. I think it should win because it is beautiful, like a dancer on a stage. For example, “ But when the trees are trembling, the wind is passing through.” Sounds beautiful to me because I was a dancer and my teacher would say this stuff. Also, it has rhyme scheme of AABB. Finally, I have a connection, I would try to see the wind. I knew people couldn’t, but I loved to try. -Maggie Kate #6
ReplyDeleteI think “Do you Carrot all for Me?” should win because funny. Also it is a marriage proposal with food in it. I also like how the author puts his name as ANONYMOUS, and there is a metaphor “ you are a peach.”
ReplyDeleteI think the poem “Do you carrot all for me?,” should win because it’s meaning you can understand easily. One writer's craft is a connection it is that the poem is replaced real words with foods. I love food such as pears, carrots, and lettuce. One part has personification it is “Weed make a swell pear.” One final writer's craft is a metaphor it is “You are a peach.” I hope this wins because I think it should.

I think “Do You Carrot At All For Me” is better because it’s very funny because it uses vegetables in every sentence and of course it uses detail. And I love food.
ReplyDeleteA connection I can make is when ever I eat dinner my mom makes me eat my vegetables.
It has personification an example is weed make a swell pear . It also uses a metaphor an example is you are a peach.
