I think the poem, “Casey At The Bat” should win. I think it should win because the meaning is more important to me. This poem should also win because this poem has quatrains. For example, there are thirteen quatrains in this poem. This poem also has rhyme scheme. For example, AABB. That is why I think “Casey At The Bat” should win.

I am going to choose “Casey at the Bat.” I found couplets such as “day” and “play.” The rhyme scheme is AABB. The alliteration is “the audience was awed.” I just know that “Casey at the Bat” will win.

I chose "Choosing Shoes" by Ffrida Wolfe. It's about different types of shoes and buying them and going to stores to buy them. And there's rhyme scheme with "New shoes new shoes, Red and pink and blue shoes. Also a connection I made with the poem is the buying shoes part it reminds me of me going to the mall. And that's why I think "Choosing Shoes" should win.
ReplyDeleteI think “Choosing Shoes” should win because it is funnier than “Casey at Bat”, and people can relate too having to choose shoes. But some people don’t play baseball, or have to hit a run at the last at-bat. To win a game that is, but almost everyone who has shoes has had to face the problem of choosing the perfect pair. The text says “buckle shoes, bow shoes, pretty-pointy-toe shoes.” which is what lots of people go through in the process of choosing them.
ReplyDeleteI chose the poem “Choosing Shoes,” by Ffrida Wolfe, because I like how she uses alliteration. For example it says “Dandy-dance-by-night shoes” and “Pretty pointy-toe shoes.” I also like it more because it has lots of interesting words and sounds like a kid’s rap song. I also like it more because it is about having to find the shoe that you want out of millions. That is why I like “Choosing Shoes” more than “Casey at the Bat.” Asher
ReplyDeleteI think “Choosing Shoes” should win. I think so because it is more relatable. Also, it has a rhyme scheme of AAAB. My text evidence is My text evidence is that choosing shoes is hard because of the different types. The poem talks about the different types. For example, “Tell me what would you choose, If they’d let us buy?” Another thing is it has a rhyme scheme of AAAB. My text evidence is that the first three lines rhyme and the fourth line doesn’t. (These are the stanza lines). To conclude it has a good beat. You can make a beat saying it. -Maggie Kate #6
ReplyDeleteThe first poem,”Casey At The Bat,” by Ernest Lawrence Thayer, is a clear winner. I think it is the winner because of the meaning and writer’s craft. For example some writers craft is couplets because the poem says,”And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout, but there's no joy in Mudville mighty Casey has struck out.” Also there is alliteration. In the poem it says,”And when responding to the cheers he lightly doffed his hat.” Finally the meaning is don’t be to picky because you get what you get. That’s why this poem is a clear winner.

I think " Choosing shoes" should win. For example, it has all of the shoes that you can imagine and probably even more. This poem even has the colors of the shoes like for example, they have pink blue, purple, ect. That is what I like about this poem.
ReplyDeleteThe writers craft for"Choosing Shoes" is onamonapia. For example, at the beginning it says," New shoes, new shoes. That is why I think it is onamonapia, and I think it has rhyme scheme. I thin that for example it has,"Red, pink, and blue shoes. That is why I think rhyme scheme.

I chose”Casey at the Bat.”I think this poem should win. It has a lot of writers craft, such as alliteration. For example, the author says “silence sat.” There are also couplets. For example, the lines end in “same and game.” Lastly, the rhyme scheme is AABB .I think “Casey at the Bat” should win.

I think ”Choosing Shoes” is the winner because I think it has a better meaning than,”Casey at the Bat.” In,”Choosing Shoes,” the person is trying to find the perfect shoes but can’t find the perfect shoes. It is the same with life, we try to be perfect but we can’t. That’s the meaning. “Choosing Shoes,” also has some good writers craft. It had a good rhyme scheme of AAAB. It also had simile when it said,’Stump-along-like-that-shoes.” It also had imagery when it it has talking about the colors and buckles and everything on the shoes. This poem should definitely be the winner.

I think “Choosing Shoes” should win because it is more funny and happy. One reason is that it has more colors which makes it happier. The second reason is that it has personification like Dandy-dance-by-night shoes. For my last reason why I think “Choosing Shoes” should win is that it has a lot more quatrains in the poem, for example, the last words of a quatrain are shoes, shoes, shoes, and buy. This is why I think “Choosing Shoes” should win. -Mary
ReplyDeleteI think the poem “Casey at the Bat ,” should win because I like the types writer's craft and other things like connections. One connection is I play baseball and it is frustrating when you strike out. One writer's craft is quatrain the poem is made up of quatrains. One more writer's craft is onamonapia it is “The air shattered with the force. I hope this poem wins because it makes a lot of sense.

I think “Casey at Bat” should win. I think it should win because I can relate to it. I play baseball, so I can relate. Also It has a more interesting story. Finally It has a great rhyme scheme of AABB. This poem should win.
ReplyDeleteI think that ”Choosing Shoes” should win. It has repetition which is “new shoes.” The rhyme scheme is AAAB. It also has alliteration “pretty pointy shoes.” It aslo it a great poem because I has a rhythm. I love poems like this because I can tap my foot to it and it is just a great and cool poem to listen. My connection this that sometimes I also have a hard time choosing shoes. I like the writer’s craft on this poem better because of the rhythm and all the other thing that were in this poem to make it sound great. I think that this poem is going to win.

The poem I chose was ” Choosing Shoes” by Ffrida Wolfe, for many reasons. One reason is poets craft. Like, the rhyme scheme AAAB and there is also a alliteration, Pretty pointy-toe, and Dandy dance. I also like how I can relate to this poem. For example, when I go to the store my mom is like, “What about these shoes no these shoes are the best you can’t get those shoes.” Another reason I can relate to this poem is my brother always wants new shoes and describes the shoes he wants. I think this poem is the right fit.

I think,”Choosing shoes” should win because I like how the author used onomatopoeia for example Stappy cappy. The author also used a rhyme scheme for example, AAABAAABAAABA e.t.c. I also like how it tells all the different types of shoes for example”New shoes, new shoes Red, white, blue shoes.” e.t.c. The author used alliteration for example “Dandy dance.” This why I choose this poem.

I choose “Casey At The Bat” because I like the meaning of the poem and I like the silliness in the poem. I also like some of the writer’s craft in it like the quadrants in it that all have the rhyme scheme of AABB. I like the repetition in it to where it says “There was” all the time. I can make a connection to Casey because I have played a basketball game before and we lost by two points in the tournament. When we lost that game I wanted to cry so bad to. When it comes between these poems “Casey At The Bat” is a definite winner.

I think the poem, “Choosing Shoes,” should win because it uses great detail when it says all the different kinds of shoes you could imagine. Also, it’s rhyme scheme, alliteration, and quatrains were magnificent.I personally liked the way the quatrains were set up.Lastly, the poem itself was very entertaining and made me want to read more because it was very exclamatory, like buckle shoes, bow shoes, and pointed shoes all made this poem so exclamatory! This is why I choose the poem “Choosing Shoes,” should win in my own opinion.

I think the poem “Casey At The Bat” is a clear winner because of the repatition. For example, it says,”There was.” And it says,”Casey” alot. It also has a rhyme scheme of AABB. I think this poem is the most realatable because I play baseball. I think Casey thinks to much of himself. For example it says”Casey does not swing on the first pitch strike one. He does not swing on the second pitch strike two.” So he strikes out. This is why I think “Casey At The Bat” is a winner.

I think that “Choosing Shoes” should win because it is a lot more fun to read than “Casey at the Bat.Also it has alliteration like “Dandy-dance-by-night shoes”.The rhyme scheme is important in my decision because I really like the rhyme scheme in “Choosing Shoes” it is AAABAAABAAACDAAAB. It also has qurian it has six of them.I like how the author added repetition like “New shoes and Shoes”.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I think “Choosing Shoes”is the winner.

I chose ‘’Choosing Shoes’’ I chose this because of the writer's craft. For example, the 4 quatrains and the rhyme scheme is fun as well it is A-A-A-B. The other reason I chose this was because of the rhymes I loved the rhymes. For example, Buckle shoes, bow shoes pretty pointy toe shoes strappy, cappy low shoes. The final reason I chose this is because of the alliteration that Ffrida Wolfe put in it. For example, Flat fat shoes or pretty pointy toe shoes. This is why I chose ‘’Choosing Shoes.’’
ReplyDeleteI think the poem,”Choosing Shoes,” should win, because I love the meaning behind the poem. The meaning was that you will never find the perfect shoes, just like nobody will ever be perfect. I also loved the quatrain of 4, for example,”Buckle shoes, bow shoes, pretty pointy-toe shoes, strappy, cappy low shoes; Let’s have some try.” I also loved the rhyme scheme when t
ReplyDeletesaid,”Like some? So would I.” and,” That’s the sort they’ll buy.” It had a rhyme scheme of AA BB CC and so on. ‘’ Choosing shoes,” should win.

I like Casey at the Bat because it is funny and Casey gets really mad at himself it is funny he rages real hard. I like it because the other team is so scared and mad he has two strikes and he needs to get points to win the game that was the winning hit. I can make a couple of connection from this when I loose I get mad and I am not happy when I lose. I like it because the whole world was counting on him and he let them down like the team the fans they were all counting on him.Choosing Shoes is good because he is taking a long time to choose its shoes he doesn't know what shoes to get he names a bunch of shoes and does not know what to pick. I am on the other side of him I know what shoes to get and I get there then leave right away and I have my shoes and all my stuff. I think the winner is Casey at the bat because he gets mad and he cares a lot and I get mad when I lose a game like his.

I think “Choosing Shoes,” by Ffrida Wolfe, should win because it’s about shoes! I mean who doesn’t love shoes. I like how the poem rhymes and it goes together well. I also like how it lists all different types of shoes and it tells you which ones to buy and which ones not to buy. This poem has a rhyme scheme of AAAB and it keeps repeating. This poem is made up of 4 quatrains. This pom also uses alliteration such as “Dandy Dance” and “Pretty Pointy.” I like how this poem also asks questions like “What do you choose?” and “Would you like some?” I can relate to this poem because I love shoes and sometimes I have trouble picking which ones I want to buy. I love shoes although, some may say that they are way to expensive or the shoes will rip super quick, but I think shoes are AWESOME!!! You can never have too many shoes.
ReplyDeleteI like all types of shoes too! Not only do I love shoes but so does my brother. We both have a lot.
I think the poem, “Choosing Shoes,” by Ffrida Wolfe should definitely win!

For the winner I choose “Casey at the Bat” by Ernest Lawrence Thayer. I choose this poem for 3 reasons. First, this poem used very discriptave imagery for discribing the weather and/or the game, I could really see the stadium in my mind. Second, The rymme scheeme AABBAABBAABBAABBAABBAABBAABBAABB… It was a great repeating ryme scheem that grabbed the readers attention. Third, similies were used almost evrywhere in the poem, for example: “Like the beating of the storm waves on the stern and distant shore.” Thoose are the reasons of why I choose “Casy at the Bat.”

My pick is “Choosing Shoes,” because I like the melody. Plus there is rhyme like when it says “fat shoes, flat shoes, stump along like that shoes.” There is also quatrains and repetition. This poem is better than “Casey At Bat,” because it has less writer’s craft. And it doesn't rhyme that much.
