These poems were both great. If I had to choose one I would choose The Falling Star. This poem had a deeper meaning to me. I like how the author used alliteration and personification in on sentence. For example "I saw a star slide down the sky." I also liked how the author used couplets. For example. "I saw a star slide down the sky, blinding the north as it went by." I can make a connection to this poem because I love watching for falling stars. I thought this poem was very descriptive. This is why I choose The Falling Star.
ReplyDeleteI think The Falling Star should win.
ReplyDeleteMy connection is that I love to learn about stars and planets and space.
The poet's craft I liked in The Falling Star is alliteration. For example, " I saw a star slide down the sky."
That is why I chose The Falling Star.
GO FALLING STAR!!:)
DeleteThe winning poem is The Falling Star because it has A deeper meaning to me and because I like it's poet's craft.
ReplyDeleteI can make a connection to the poem because once I saw a falling star and I made a wish on it.
I also like it's rhyme scheme which is AABBCC. It also has repetition of the word "too" which is poet's craft. It also has alliteration because it says "star slide" and alliteration is the repeated initial consonant sound. In this case it is the consonant S.
This why I think the winning poem is The Falling Star. Go Falling Star!!!
I chose for the champion... The Falling Star because I like how it talks about a shooting star that makes someone really happy.
ReplyDeleteI am making a connection with The Falling Star because I like to watch shooting stars at night, and I like stars.
I like the alliteration in The Falling Star when it says, "I saw a star slide down the sky." That is why I chose for the champion The Falling Star.
YAY! The Falling Star is winning! YAY!
DeleteI think that Life Doesn't Frighten Me At All should win the championships. i connect with the poem because a lot of those things I'm not scared of either. I like the rhyme sceme (AAABBCDDEFFGHHIJJK) and so on.
ReplyDeleteThis was a very hard decision but over all, I think that THe Falling Star is the winner because it had a deeper meaning and more detail than Life Doesn't Frighten Me.
ReplyDeleteOne connection I can make with this poem is that sometimes I will find something that is really cool and I will think," Wow! This is too amazing to bring back home!"so I will leave God's creation where it is and it won't be sold or bought or anything that could harm this beautiful creation. One more connection I can make with this is that I love to lie down on the ground, look up at the sky, and look for shooting stars passing by.
There was a lot of writer's craft in this poem. Some writer's craft was rhyme scheme and the pattern was AABBCC which means that it also had couplets in it. Some more writer's craft I noticed was personification because the writer personified the star. One more writer's craft I saw was a alliteration, for example " I Saw a Star Slide down the Sky " is alliteration.
That is why I chose The Falling Star as the winner for this year's poetry madness championship.
One example of a couplet is," I saw a star slide down the sky, blinding the north as it went by.
DeleteI think The Falling Star should win The championship because it has more meaning to me.
ReplyDeleteHow I connect to it is I wish on stars and the poem makes me happy.
A poet's craft I enjoy more is rhyme scheme and couplets. For example, the rhyme scheme is AABBCC, and the couplets are sky by, hold sold, and on gone.
I choose the falling star as the winner.
It was not a hard decision at all. I chose THE FALLING STAR as the winner. I chose this poem because not only it's the better poem, it has a lot better meaning. LIFE DOESN'T FRIGHTEN ME is about someone bragging that life doesn't frighten them.
ReplyDeleteI can make a connection with THE FALLING STAR and it is whenever I see a shooting star I think what are they for? I answered my own question, and they are just to make wishes on for one second, then they aren't there anymore. Where do they go?
Also I noticed writer's craft such as alliteration, personification, and couplets. The alliteration is I saw a star slide down the sky. There are three couplets like, sky and by, hold and sold, and on and gone. They personify the north in the sentence blinding the north as it went by. This is why I chose THE FALLING STAR.
I always think," Where do the falling stars go?" too!
DeleteYa, where do they go?
DeleteI like both poems but I have to chose The Falling Star. I chose The Falling Star because it really touched me and it is my second favorite poem out of all the poems we played over the few weeks. I also love how it described how beautiful and rare falling stars are
ReplyDeleteI can relate to The Falling Star because I saw a meteor shower one time and it was really beautiful and rare. This poem really brought me back to that amazing moment.
I like how at the beginning of The Falling Star uses alliteration. 'I saw the star slide down the sky'. I also like how this poem used rhyme scheme AABBCC. One more reason why I chose the Falling Star as the champion is because it used three couplets. I really like couplets. This is why I chose The Falling Star as the winner!
I think The Falling Star won because it is about someone who saw a falling star in the sky, and they are talking about how it is too beautiful to be in possession of anyone.
ReplyDeleteI can make a connection to this poem because their are many things I have seen that have been so wonderful that I thought they had to stay that way, with nobody having possession of them .
I liked the poet's craft in this poem a lot, because it had a great rhyme scheme (AA BB CC), and their were couplets like "Too burning and to quick to hold, too lovely to be bought or sold", and "Good only to make wishes on, and then forever to be gone".
That is why I chose The Falling Star.
I am going to choose Life Doesn't Frighten Me as my winner. It is because it has good alliteration . For example , Panthers in the park. and Mean old mother goose. I have a connection to Live Doesn't Frighten Me. I have to face my fears in some things if they are real or not. Another reason I like Life Doesn't Frighten Me is because it has good couplets . For example , Bad dogs barking loud. Big ghosts in the cloud. That is why I like the poem Life Doesn't Frighten Me.
ReplyDeleteI want Life Doesn't Frighten me to win because It has a deeper meaning, and It tells you not to be afraid of everything you can think of.
ReplyDeleteThe connection I make is that I used to be afraid of everything in the past, but now I'm less scared of things!!!!!!!!
The poet's craft In Life Doesn't Frighten me was, rhyme scheme, and repetition. Rhyme scheme for example is, "I just smile and they go wild" and "Tough guys fight all night". The REpetition is, "Life doesn't frighten me at all". Tis' why I choose Life Doesn't Frighten me.
Good job!!!!!:]
DeleteAlex, That was probably the best post in the world.
DeleteI choose ,The Falling Star, because it has has a deeper meaning. Also it is shows feeling.

DeleteI chose The Falling Star as the all time winner because it has been my favorite the whole poetry madness.
ReplyDeleteThe poem itself is really good. I can connect to The Falling Star in a way. If you look really closely, you will find something as beautiful as the falling star in The Falling Star everyday.
The Falling Star has so many examples of writers craft like, rhyme scheme, repetition, imagery, metaphors, alliteration, and couplets. I like all of those things about The Falling Star.
That is why I choose The Falling Star as the winner!
I liked The Falling Star because it used couplets, for example sky, by, hold, sold, on, gone. Another reason I choose it was the author used alliteration, when she said," I saw a star slide down the sky." I think The Falling Star should win because I like the imagery.
ReplyDeleteI want the final winner to be The Falling Star. I want this poem to win because it uses, couplets, alliteration, rhyme scheme, and repetition. For example the couplets in this poem is, "I saw a star slide down the sky, blinding the north as it went by." Also it says,"Too burning and too quick to hold, too lovely to be bought or sold'." Lastly this poem says,"Good only to make wishes on, and then forever to be gone." The rhyme scheme for this poem is,AABBCC. The alliteration is the letter T. For example,Too burning and too quick to hold, too lovely to be bought or sold. Lastly the repetition for this poem is the word too or to. For example,"Too burning and too quick too hold, too lovely to be bought or sold.
ReplyDeleteI have a connection to this poem. My connection to this poem is sometimes I wish things we see or have for a short amount of time go away soon and we want to see/have them longer in order to really enjoy that little moment.Another connection I have is if I saw a falling star I would want to keep and cherish it forever.
Lastly I enjoy this poem because it has a ton of meaning. For example, people never often get to see falling stars, but when they do I would like it if they described it so incredible like the writer of the Falling Star did.
I am going to be sad if the Falling star does not win but I think it should. I gave a lot of reasons why I think it should win. I do not think Life Doesn't Frighten me is a better poem. The Falling Star should win.
I think The Falling Star should win. I thought it was better then Life doesn't Frighten Me. I thought it had a better value then Life doesn't Frighten Me. I loved both but if I had to choose one it would be The Falling Star.
ReplyDeleteThe connection I made with the Falling Star was when they wrote "Good only to make wishes on." I thought you only get a chance at a time to make a wish and you shouldn't waste it, frinstance when I make wishes I usually wish by throwing something it the mall fountain, or blowing out a candle.
I liked how The Falling Star has couplets and a rhyme scheme which was, AABBCC. I also saw repetition for the word "Too." It also had personification for the star. I thought it was very good! That is why I pick The Falling Star.
My favorite poem of all is The Falling Star, because it has a deeper meaning, for an example it is about how you need to hold on to things and not just let them go, because if you just let them go you might want them later but they are all ready gone.
ReplyDeleteMy connection with the falling star is that I have not wanted something until later, so when I changed my mind it was already gone. That's why i will never let something that has been offered to me go away.
There is lots of writers craft in this poem, for an example there is alliteration: I SAW a STAR SLIDE down the SKY, is alliteration. There is also personification: I saw a star slide down the sky is acting like the star can do things that people do. There is repetition: The word TOO repeats a lot. There are also couplets: Too burning and to quick to hold,
Too lovely and to be bought or sold.
That is why I choose The Falling Star.
I think that The Falling Star should win because it's about capturing the magic of a falling star.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the falling star because I think they're some of the most magical things in the world.
I liked the poet's craft in The Falling Star better. the rhyme scheme is. AA BB CC.
My favorite poem is The Falling Star because it has a deeper meaning. For example it means that you should never let dreams go away because in the future if you would have let go of all your childhood dreams, then you would have none.
ReplyDeleteI can make a connection to this by saying that I have always wanted to see a falling star but I have never seen one and I know that when I get older if I do see one I will never let that memory go.
I saw poet's craft in it when I saw that it had alliteration in the first line "I saw a star slide down the sky," I also saw rhyme scheme. It was AABBCC. I think that that is a cool one too have. That's why I chose The Falling Star.
I think that the falling star is going to win.
DeleteMe too
DeleteI choose, THE FALLING STAR as the winner, because it means a lot to me.
ReplyDeleteI can make a connection to the falling star because I watch stars all the time.
In the poem when the poet says "To lovely to be bought or sold." I think of my family in that way. I also loved how the poet uses couplets such as "Good only to make wishes on, And then forever to be gone." There are so many other amazing things about this poem that I could go on and on about. But I am going to make it short. The rhyme scheme is AABBCC.
That is why I choose THE FALLING STAR!!!
I think the winner is The Falling Star. It is a good poem, and I think it had a good meaning.

I liked when the author of The Falling Star used alliteration when she said "I Saw a Star Slide down the Sky." The author also used lots of couplets. For instance, the author said "Good only to make wishes on, And then be forever gone."
That is why I thought The Falling Star won.
I think both poems have really deep meanings but I think the winner should be Life Doesn't Frighten Me.
ReplyDeleteI can make a connection with this poem. My connection is that some things in life doesn't frighten me like shadows and noises but other things do frighten me.
What I like about the poet's craft is how she had couplets like "Shadows on the wall" "Noises down the hall" and most of all I liked how she used repetition.
That's why I like Life Doesn't Frighten Me should win.
I choose the champion...The Falling Star because it has a deeper meaning to me. For example, it is about how you need to always hold on to dreams because if you don't you won't get them back. So it is important to hold on to important dreams. This is one reason why I really liked The Falling Star.
ReplyDeleteI also like The Falling Star because I can make a true connection. For example, I let go of some dreams that I should not have. This is another reason why I think The Falling Star is the true winner.
I also really liked The Falling Star because it has great really poet's craft. For example, it uses the rhyme scheme (AABBCC.) It also used Alliteration when it said, "I saw a star slide down the sky." It also uses repetition for the word "Too."
This is why I choose The Falling Star as the champion.
My favorite poem of them was The Falling Star.Because it has a deeper meaning, it means you always only get one chance at things so if you let them pass you,you might just want them in the end.
ReplyDeleteMy connection with the falling star is I sometimes have the chance to do something and I don't do it so later on I want to do it.
I like it writers craft it uses alliteration and rhyme scheme. The alliteration is "I saw a star slide down the sky".The rhyme scheme is AABBCC.
That is why choose The Falling Star to win it all.
I love The Falling Star but that's not the only reason I want it to win. It's such a sweet poem that tells us if life gives you an opportunity take it don't push it away, because it won't be their forever.
ReplyDeleteI can connect because sometimes I don't try things or watch them and I really miss out on something cool.
there is also a lot of writer's craft. One example is, ryhme scheme AABBCC. Another example is, alliteration "I Saw a Star Slide down the Sky." Also I see the repetition of the word too. That is why I choose falling star. GO FALLING STAR!!!!!!!
For the champion of Poetry Madness, I choose Life doesn't Frighten Me. You don't need to be afraid in life. Just keep going. Nothing should stop you. Life goes on. You are a small fish, the world is the sea. You have no limits. Inside we are all alike. Nothing will change that, and Life doesn't Frighten Me expresses that. I like that the author uses couplets. For example, in the poem, it says, "Mean old Mother Goose
ReplyDeleteLions on the loose"
Maya Angelou, the author of the poem, makes Life doesn't Frighten Me even more magical and convincing by repeating the phrase "Life doesn't frighten me".
Though others might not agree, I think that Life Doesn't Frighten Me is the true champion.
I think that The Falling Star should win because it is about capturing the magic of a falling star.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to The Falling Star because I think that a falling star is one of life's most beautiful things.
I liked the poet's craft in The Falling Star better. The rhyme scheme is. AA BB CC.
This is very, very tough to pick. But if I had to pick one it would be... Falling Star because it has a deeper meaning, for example It talked about to always be brave no matter what because when you are scared I like to think of it this way. When you are scared, It just means you're exited.
ReplyDeleteMy connection I have to make is it tells me to always be brave when scary things are coming towards your way. And to be safe all the time.
There are a lot of writers craft in the poem. For example, there was alliteration: I SAW a STAR SLIDE down the SKY, is alliteration. And the rhyme scheme, (AABCDA). That is the reason I picked The Falling Star. Oh and another reason I picked The Falling Star is because It had good alliteration. But I also like Life Doesn't Frighten Me, but in my opinion, it didn't have good context clues.
I would say that the winner is, The Falling Star because it has deeper meaning. For example, it says to hold onto things and if you don't it won't last long.
ReplyDeleteThe connection I make with the Falling Star is that I have always wanted to wish on a star.
The writer's craft in The Falling Star is repetition. For example it say's too in two lines. Also there is rhyme scheme. For example, in the poem AABBCC. Another type of craft is that there is couplets. For example, "I saw a star slide down the sky, blinding the north as it went by. I also can see alliteration in the poem, "I saw a star slide down the sky."
That is why I choose The Falling Star as the winner.
I choose The Falling Star as my favorite poem because I thought it had a deeper meaning, and a lot of detail. For example, it was really special to me because it talked about how you should pay close attention to things in life that are special.
ReplyDeleteI also like this poem more because I could make a connection to the poem. I try to always pay attention to important and special things in life too.
I also like this poem more because of the amazing poet's craft. For example, it had a rhyme scheme, [AABBCC]. Also, it had couplets, "I saw a star slide down the sky. Blinding the north as it went by." It also had repetition, " Too Burning and too quick to hold. Too lovely to be bought or sold." It also had alliteration, [Too lovely to be bought or sold.]
This is why I choose The Falling Star as my favorite poem.
I really think that The Falling Star is going to win
DeleteI think The Falling Star should win the championship because it means more to me than Life Doesn't Frighten Me. The topic of truly treasuring something is very important.
ReplyDeleteI can connect to The Falling Star because I believe that you should always take time to realize how valuable something is.
I like the alliteration, couplets, repetition, and rhyme scheme in this poem. For example, " I saw a star slide down the sky, blinding the north as it went by." And," Too burning and too quick to hold, too lovely to be bought or sold."
I choose The Falling Star as the champion.
My favorite poem is The Falling Star because it had a very deep meaning. For example, It is about how you need to hold on to things you love, until you have to let go. Even though you might want them a different time but there already gone. The star is so pretty that everyone wants it,but it can not be bought or sold.
ReplyDeleteMy connection to the Falling Star is that when I have something ,and I have to let it go I might miss it later. If I wanted it later, it was already gone. That is why I always hold on to something that I love for a long time, so when someone offers something to me I take it.
There is a LOT of poet craft in this poem such as alliteration, repetition, couplets, and rhyme scheme. for alliteration it was "I Saw a Star Slide down the Sky. Also for repetition it is The word TOO repeats two times. There are many couplets one is "Good only to make wishes ON"
"And then to forever to be GONE." And then there is rhyme scheme, the rhyme scheme is AABBCC. That is why I choose the Falling Star as the winner.
I like yours
DeleteIf I had to choose one it would be The Falling Star because there is a lot of meaning to like. For example, I saw couplets, repetition ,and even Rhyme scheme. For example, here is one couplet, "I saw the star slide down the sky." The rhyme scheme is (AABBCC).
ReplyDeleteAlso the meaning of this story is that it is saying to never let go of your dreams when you are older you will have let go all of your dreams and you will have nothing to wish for to to remember.
My connection in the poem is that if you look up into the stars ever night you will see a wonderful ,and beautiful star every night.
That are all of the reasons you should pick THE FALLING STAR.
I love love Life Doesn't Frighten Me, but I like The falling star a bit more. I think it has a deeper meaning than Life Doesn't Frighten Me. It is saying when you see a very bright star slide down the sky it is too beautiful to be bought or sold, and after you wish on if it will disappear into the night.
ReplyDeleteI can make a connection to The Falling Star because before I go to sleep I like to look out my window to see if there are any falling stars. I also enjoy reading books about stars and outer space. Lastly, sometimes at my mountain house my daddy and I sit on the dock at night time, and sometimes we will see a falling star.
Some poet's craft is, alliteration, for example, "I saw a star slide down the sky." There is also rhyme scheme, AABBCC. The poem also has lots of couplets, sky and by, hold and sold, and on and gone. Lastly, there is repetition of the word too.
That is why I choose The Falling Star as the winner.
I choose, The Falling Star, as the Champion of poetry madness because it has a deeper meaning to me because if you let things go that you don't want right than you are going to later in your life wish you did not let it go.
ReplyDeleteI can make a connection to, The Falling Star. For example, I have let things go then later on in my life I had wished that I had not let it go.
The writer that wrote this poem used a lot of writers craft. Some of the writer's craft in the poem is the rhyme scheme in the poem is AABBCC. There are also three couplets One of them is " Good only to make wishes on. And then forever to be gone." The poem also gave me an image about what they were talking about. That is why I chose, The Falling Star, as the champion of poetry madness.
I think the Falling Star should win because it had meaning and depth.
ReplyDeleteI liked the rhyme scheme in the couplets. (AABBCC) It just goes well with the poem and make it more meaningful.
I liked the alliteration "Too lovely to be bought or sold,"
It made the poem have more depth and went well with the story. It also had repetition in two of the six quatrains. "Too burning and too quick to hold, Too lovely to be bought or sold, " really topped it off.
I can make a connection to the story as well. Some things are too pretty to hang on to and will be better off without you. Once I found a rabbit with an injured and bloody leg. We took him in, and the next couple of days later he was dead. I was very sad and knew I should have let him go earlier, but we wanted to keep him. We knew he would be in a better place. Much better than being in a cold box in pain splattered with blood. We didn't know how he died, the cold night or blood loss, but you can't hold on to beautiful possessions that would be better off without you forever or eventually the will loose meaning and fade.
This is why I put The Falling Star as winner.
I think Fallling Star should win poetry maddnes because it has a better mining because if you got something you should take it for granted.
ReplyDeleteThe connection I made with Falling Star is I have gotten something and did not take it for granted.
The poet's craft in Falling Star is rhyme scheme AABBCC. There is also imagery. You can imagine the person talking. This is why I think Falling Star should win poetry madness.
