Would You Rather Part 4

Dear students,

For your final blog posts, you will write a persuasive paragraph in a series called "Would You Rather." In each post, I will give you a scenario, and you will have to defend your answer using the following criteria:

  • topic sentence stating your opinion
  • At least 3 supporting sentences defending your opinion
  • One counter argument
  • A concluding sentence summarizing your writing

Here is your "Would You Rather" for today:

Would you rather always have to say everything on your mind or never speak again?

Please remember to check for mistakes by reading aloud your post to yourself before you publish it. I cannot wait to see what you write!

Your teacher,
Mrs. Braddy

Here is a proficient example:
If I had to always say what was on my mind or never speak again, I would always say what was on my mind. I'm pretty chatty at my house and I don't think I could ever go without talking ever again. It is also good to speak your mind even if you are afraid. You need to tell people what you think, even if they don't listen. Also, if you have a secret that you really want tell, you can and you won't get in trouble because you can't help it! Although, some people may argue that never speaking again is better. After all, there are other ways of communicating. You could write messages, learn hand hand motions, and many more. But I think it is important to speak. Your voice is a part of you and you should keep it.

  1. If I had to always say what was on my mind or never speak again, I would always say what was on my mind. I am a big talker. Not being able to talk would be crushing. If someone was being mean to me I would be able to talk back. However, some may argue that never saying anything again is better because you would never be mean to anyone or get in trouble for what you say. I think it is very important to speak. Your voice is power, and power is worth saving.

  2. If I could always say what is on my mind or never speak again. I would never speak again. Everyone says I talk to much. I sometimes think somethings that aren't very nice and if I had to say it I would loose friends fast. Finally, I could stay on task more. Some may want to say everything they think, so they could talk about how they feel better, but they would probebly end up saying somthing mean. I would want to never talk.

  3. If I had the choice to never talk again or say everything that was on my mind, I would never speak again. For example, if I said everything I might say some bad words or some embarrassing things. If I had a choice, I would never speak again.

  4. If I had a choice to say everything that was on my mind or never speak again I would rather never speak again. I would choose to never speak again because I could be in an important meeting and be thinking of tacos or bananas and I would have to say that. But if I couldn't speak I could just learn sign language or wright what I am thinking down. I would rather never speak again because I wouldn't want people to know what I am thinking.

  5. If I had the the choice of saying everything on my mind or never speaking again, I would chose never speaking again. I chose this because I would embarrass myself and hurt people's feelings, but if I could never speak again I would not do that. Some people may argue that saying everything on your mind is better because you won't be able to communicate ever again. I disagree because I can learn sign language so I can be able to communicate. I think not being able to speak is better.

  6. If I had to choose to always say what was on my mind because I like to talk If I want to lose a friend, but I can't tell them I just would. Although, some may argue to never speak again is better because you might think very bad things, and you don't want to say. I would like to say everything that is on my mind more.

  7. If I had the choice between having to always say what was on my mind or never speak again, I would choose to never speak again. I would choose this because there are other ways of communicating. You can write, do hand signals, and more. Also, if you said everything that was on your mind you would sometimes say things that weren't very nice about what you thought and could get in trouble for it. Finally, if you could never talk you could concentrate better and stay on task. However, some people might want to always speak what was on your mind because if someone said something mean or rude you would be able to talk back. But, I think never speaking would be much better than
always saying what was on your mind.

  8. I would never speak again because if I said everything on my mind I would be saying lots of things I wouldn’t want to. Also, I would be talking in class a lot. Finally, I would be saying random things during conversations so people won’t understand me. However, some may argue that saying everything that is on your mind is better because you would still be able to talk. I would be a hard life but I think never speaking again would be better.

  10. I would always say what was on my mind. I love to talk, and I couldn't just never talk again. I would just say anything, and always try to think good things. I might cuss or be mean every now and then, but I would try to think just be nice here. Also, at Preds games I could yell whatever I felt like at Murray, Hellebuyck, and Crawford. However, some people may choose to never talk again because they always are thinking "bad things a lot of bad things that they wish and they wishin' on me" from the song God's Plan by Drake. I think though that never talking again would be terrible. I would always choose to say whatever was on my mind.

  11. I would always say what is always on my mind. If I think good things all the time then I wouldn't have to worry. Yes I might think bad things like last Thursday night. But I would want to make people feel good when I say what is on my mind. That is the reason I would choose to say what is on my mind.

  12. If I had choose between never speaking again or always saying what is on my mind I would choose the second option. If you never spoke again it would be SO hard. Especially since I am very talkative. Also, It would help you to not think badly about people and help you think positive.

  13. If I had a choice between never speaking again and always saying what's on my mind, I would always say what's on my mind. I love to talk! I can't go two minutes without talking. My mom even says I talk in my sleep sometimes. Some people may want to never talk again. Maybe they don’t want to be embarrassed by what they say that is on their mind. If I had a choice, I would definitely always say what’s on my mind.
