Dear students,

For your final blog posts, you will write a persuasive paragraph in a series called "Would You Rather." In each post, I will give you a scenario, and you will have to defend your answer using the following criteria:

  • topic sentence stating your opinion
  • At least 3 supporting sentences defending your opinion
  • One counter argument
  • A concluding sentence summarizing your writing

Here is your "Would You Rather" for today:

Would you rather always have the same song stuck in your head or always have the same dream at night?

Please remember to check for mistakes by reading aloud your post to yourself before you publish it. I cannot wait to see what you write!

Your teacher,
Mrs. Braddy

Here is a proficient example:
If I had to choose between have the same song stuck in my head or the same dream every night, I would choose to have the same dream every night. First, at night you will be asleep, so it won't really bother you. Second, sometimes I forget my dream the day after I have it, so I will never forget my dream because I have it every night. Finally, if you had the same song stuck in your head it would probably annoy you. However, some people prefer having a song stuck in their head because you will never forget that song, you will have the whole song memorized, and you can sing yourself to sleep. I would rather have the same dream every night.

Here is your "Would You Rather" for today:

Would you rather be the best player on a losing team or the worst player on a winning team?

Please remember to check for mistakes by reading aloud your post to yourself before you publish it. I cannot wait to see what you write!

Your teacher,
Mrs. Braddy

Here is an example of a proficient post:
If I had to choose between being the best player on the losing team or the worst player on the winning team, I would choose the worst player on the winning team. First, you tried your best. Second, you can feel good about yourself and your team for winning the game. Finally, you may be the worst player, but you probably did something to help your team win. However, some people prefer to be the best player on the losing team. You can show off your skills, you can help your team by getting home runs, and it is not always about winning. I prefer to be the worst player on the winning team.

  • At least 3 supporting sentences defending your opinion

Here is your "Would You Rather" for today:

Would you rather have a unicorn horn or a squirrel tail?

Please remember to check for mistakes by reading aloud your post to yourself before you publish it. I cannot wait to see what you write!

Your teacher,
Mrs. Braddy

Here is a proficient example:
Okay, this is an easy question. Who wouldn't want a unicorn horn over a squirrel tail!? Unicorns are awesome! The first reason I would like to have a unicorn horn is the fact that unicorns are in the top five of my favorite animals. Second, unicorn horns look very stylish. Everything goes with unicorn horns!! (They are also any color of the rainbow!) The third reason why I would want a unicorn horn is that they are magical! Unicorns tilt their head forward and then magic shoots out the top! How cool is that? Although I think unicorn horns are awesome, (and they are.) Some people would argue that a squirrel's tail is better. A squirrel's tail could help you climb trees, swing, and play some sports. But a squirrel's tail is only brown and doesn't even squirt out magic! When you compare a unicorn horn to a squirrel's tail, the squirrel's tail looks like a dead plant. I would surly choose a unicorn horn over a squirrel's tail.

For your final blog posts, you will write a persuasive paragraph in a series called "Would You Rather." In each post, I will give you a scenario, and you will have to defend your answer using the following criteria:

  • topic sentence stating your opinion

Here is your "Would You Rather" for today:

Would you rather always have to say everything on your mind or never speak again?

Please remember to check for mistakes by reading aloud your post to yourself before you publish it. I cannot wait to see what you write!

Your teacher,
Mrs. Braddy

Here is a proficient example:
If I had to always say what was on my mind or never speak again, I would always say what was on my mind. I'm pretty chatty at my house and I don't think I could ever go without talking ever again. It is also good to speak your mind even if you are afraid. You need to tell people what you think, even if they don't listen. Also, if you have a secret that you really want tell, you can and you won't get in trouble because you can't help it! Although, some people may argue that never speaking again is better. After all, there are other ways of communicating. You could write messages, learn hand hand motions, and many more. But I think it is important to speak. Your voice is a part of you and you should keep it.

Dear students,

For your final blog posts, you will write a persuasive paragraph in a series called "Would You Rather." In each post, I will give you a scenario, and you will have to defend your answer using the following criteria:

  • topic sentence stating your opinion
  • At least 3 supporting sentences defending your opinion
  • One counter argument
  • A concluding sentence summarizing your writing

Here is your "Would You Rather" for today:

Imagine your favorite food in the entire world. Now, imagine how yummy it tastes! MMMMMMMMM. Got it? Good!

Would you rather eat your favorite food every day for the rest of your life or never eat your favorite food again?

Please remember to check for mistakes by reading aloud your post to yourself before you publish it. I cannot wait to see what you write!

Your teacher,
Mrs. Braddy

Here is a proficient example:

I would rather never eat my favorite food again than eating my favorite food everyday. I would get sick of eating the same thing everyday. Also, I would get to find more good foods in the world and perhaps find a new favorite food. Lastly, I would rather never eat my favorite food again because I might never get the good things my body needs. However, others may that that eating their favorite food everyday would mean that they would never have to try a new food again. But I like trying new things and finding new things that I would like. I would never eat my favorite food again.

Would You Rather Part 2

Dear students,
For your final blog posts, you will write a persuasive paragraph in a series called "Would You Rather." In each post, I will give you a scenario, and you will have to defend your answer using the following criteria:
  • topic sentence stating your opinion
  • At least 3 supporting sentences defending your opinion
  • One counter argument
  • A concluding sentence summarizing your writing

Here is your "Would You Rather" for today:

Would you rather have the ability to see 10 years into your own future or one year into the future of the world?

Please remember to check for mistakes by reading aloud your post to yourself before you publish it. I cannot wait to see what you write!

Your teacher,
Mrs. Braddy

P.S.-Here is my example:

If I had the choice to have a 3-day weekend every week or have an extra month of summer vacation, I would rather have a 3-day weekend every week. If I had a 3-day weekend instead of 2 days, I would get a lot more done! In addition, I would not have to work as much, and I could spend more time working out, shopping, reading, relaxing, and hanging out with my friends. Plus, I would not feel so rushed on my weekends. I could even go out of town for long weekends and visit family and friends! However, some may prefer an extra month of summer vacation because they could take longer trips. I think the benefits of longer weekends outweigh the benefits of an extra month of summer. I prefer having a 3-day weekend rather than having another month of summer vacation.
