Read Game 4 poems, If and Who Has Seen the Wind. Answer each question below. The Eagle is a poem about an eagle flying over the sea and close to the sun. Then, he is watching the mountain and swoops down like a lightning bolt to catch his prey.
The second poem, Casey at Bat, is about a boy whose baseball team is losing, but there are two people on base. Casey gets two strikes, and the crowd is very upset. Finally, Casey strikes out, and the crowd is outraged.
For the winner, I chose The Eagle. I chose it because it had a deeper meaning and understanding for me. I also liked how used a rhyme scheme of AAABBB. Also, the author used a simile comparing the eagle to a thunderbolt, "He watches from his mountain walls, And like a thunderbolt he falls." That is why I choose The Eagle.
If* is about a dad/mom talking to his son about all the ifs in the world.

The winner is Who Has Seen the Wind because it it is sweet and short. and it talks about that you will never see the wind. I love the rhymes in it the best.
The first poem, Who Has Seen the Wind, is about how the wind isn't visible, but it's still there.

I think that If- should be the winner because it tells about how you can be a good sport,and be a nice person to one another.
The first poem I read was If. If is about a parent telling their son to take chances and be brave. If has a rhyme scheme that is (AAAABCBC),but in the second paragraph I got (ABABBCBC).
ReplyDeleteThe second poem is Who Has Seen the Wind?. In Who Has Seen the Wind, it is about that you can't ever see the wind. I found a rhyme scheme in it (ABCB).
My favorite poem out of If and Who Has Seen the Wind?, was Who Has Seen the Wind?. I liked Who Has Seen the Wind? because it is about that you can never see the wind, but you can feel it and hear it.

My winner is Who has Seen the Wind because I thought it was more interesting and the rhyme scheme was more interesting. (A)(B)(C)(B). I also like the personification the poet did with the trees such as "But when the trees bow down their head"... That is why I chose Who has Seen the wind.
Who Has Seen the Wind, by Christina Rossetti, is about how we can't see the wind, but when the leave trimble or when the trees bow down their heads we know it's there. The rhyme scheme is (A)(B)(C)(B) and (A)(B)(C)(B). This poem uses personification. For example, "But when the trees bow down their heads..." I like this poem because it give reasons for what it says.
ReplyDeleteIf-, by Rudyard Kipling, is about a father telling his son if he can do the things he listed he would be a man. This story uses repetition with the word if. I like this story because it gives you good rule to live by. The rhyme scheme is (A)(A)(A)(A).
I think If- is the winner because it is very deep, and it has good things everybody should know.
The first poem, If, has a rhyme scheme of (AAAABCBC) for the first paragraph. In this poem it uses repetition with the words If. The poem is about taking chances and being brave! In the end it talks about how you'll be a man, and my son. If is also about the dad giving his son tips about life.

My winner is Who Has Seen The Wind? This poem gave me a deeper mental movie in my head and I thought it had great descriptive words.

I choose the first poem, because it teaches to listen to people because they might teach you something you need to know.

I liked Who has Seen the Wind? better because it sort of made more sense to me and I could understand it better.
Who Has Seen The Wind, is about a person who can't see the wind but can feel it and knows when it around because the trees are bending over and the wind is taking the leaves off. And even though can't see he knows it's there and will always be.
ReplyDeleteIf-, is about not caring what people think and carry on with your life. Don't let people kill your soul in mean words. And never think you can't do it because people think you can't because you're too small or to big or chubby or thin. Just do it.
I chose, If-, because it has a good story to it and tells you that you can do and its just a good story.
If- is about all the iffy things that you can do. I think that the person who is saying this is worried.

I think that Who has Seen the Wind should win because it is a cool story. Another reason is that it is fantasy. My final reason is that the person telling the story has a good imagination.

my favorite story is If because it is telling you to be yourself and never give up even if life gets tough and times get rough never give up
If.. tells you to keep your confidence and even if your put down remember you are worth it, but not too be over confident and run with pride when you shouldn't.

I chose the poem, If~, because it was a more mature poem, and I liked the concept.
If_ is about a man who is telling his son about growing up in life. One of my favorite sentences is, So hold on when there is nothing in you except the Will which says to them: "Hold on." I think that the rhyme scheme for the first paragraph is, AAA B C E F E.
