I chose the second poem, The Falling Star, because it is sweet, is all based on the same idea, is calming, and short. It grabs my attention when the author is very descriptive.
The first poem I read was Roger the Dog. It was about a dog who's lazy and won't do anything.

I chose Roger the Dog as the winner because the dog in the story reminds me of me. I also chose it because I love dogs. The similes in the poem is He hogs the, he bakes his head As if it were a loaf of bread. The metaphor in the poem is "He's just a sack of snoring dog."
The poem,Roger The Dog, is about a dog who enjoys eating and sleeping but he has no interest in exercise.He rather be in paradise with finishing up the leftover dinner scraps,or taking a snooze or a long nap.

Roger the Dog, by Ted Hughes, is about a dog that's very lazy. I like this poem because the dog is a lot like one of my dogs. I think this poem was written to entertain the reader.
ReplyDeleteThe Falling Star, by Sara Teasdale, is about a shooting star that was quick, lovely, and blinding. I like the poem because decribes what a shooting star would look like. For example, "Blinding the north as it went by..." really explained what you see when you see a shooting star. I think the author saw a shooting star and wanted to share the feeling with the world.
I pick Roger the Dog as my winner because it is a funny poem, and it really reminds me of my dog. I also think Roger the Dog is very realistic. This pick was hard for me because both poems were good, but Roger the Dog was my favorite.
The first poem that I read was Roger the Dog. Roger the Dog is about a dog named Roger who is old. Roger doesn't run. He just eats and sleeps.

My favorite poem out of Roger the Dog and The Falling Star was,Roger the Dog. I like Roger the Dog because it is telling about a dog who eats and sleeps a lot, but does not run anymore. I also realized in Hughes used a rhyme scheme and a repetition of the word "He".
The first poem,Roger the Dog, is about a dog named Roger. He is a lazy dog and a hard working dog. " He will don't race, he will not romp, He saves his strength for gobble and chomp" I think this poem is so sweet and it reminded me of my dogs. Another part I really loved was when it said "You can roll him with your foot, He'll stay snoring where he's put" That touched my heart because I love dogs so much!
ReplyDeleteThe second poem,The Falling Star, This poem is about a shooting star building up north. In the poem it says "Too burning and too quick to hold, too lovely to be bought or sold." This touched my heart with all the heart-felted words and it made me feel really good! It also talks about how you see a shooting star once and then you never see it again. That made me feel good and happy.
My choice for the winner is, Roger the Dog, the poem made me feel really good and it used repetition with the words "He". This poem is also about dogs and I love dogs! So it was a good pick for me.
The first poem is about a dog who is lazy. He hogs the fire, after his family is finished with their dinner he licks the dishes. Then he gets back in bed in front of the fire and then he falls asleep.

I think the first one is ok but the second one is like making a wish that you've always wanted, so I would take the second one to win.

I think Roger the Dog is better because it has a very nice rhyme scheme (AABB), it is funny and entertaining, and finally I like dogs much more.
Roger The Dog is a poem about a dog that is very lazy and a little bit over weight. He lives a good life as he sleeps by the fire, takes long naps, and eats. This poem is very descriptive and like how it talks about dogs and how he sleeps all day. It reminds me of a 13 year old bulldog that I fostered who slept a lot.

I like Roger the Dog better because it reminds me of pugs and I like dogs. I also like it because it reminds me of my dog, Sandy. Sandy is not as lazy as this dog sounds, but everything else reminds me of my dog. I don't like Falling Star as much because Falling Star is more serious.

The first poem, Roger The Dog, is about a dog that is as lazy as a sloth! Just as the poet said,"He's just a sack of snoring dog." To me Roger is relatable. Somedays on the weekend if I'm not doing a sport all I want to do is lay down, and I don't care if someone could roll me with their foot! Overall the poem was about a lazy dog named, Roger, and he sleeps alllllll day!
