Read Game 3 poems, If and Who Has Seen the Wind.

winner based on poet's craft (rhyme, line breaks, punctuation,
simile/metaphor, word choice, repetition) AND your personal connection
to the meaning. Don't forget to write with M.I.N.T.S.!

The first poem, The Eagle, is about an eagle flying over the sea and
close to the sun. Then he is watching the mountain and swoops down like a
lightning bolt to catch his prey.
The second poem, Casey at Bat, is about a boy whose baseball team is
losing,but there's two people on base. Then Casey gets two strikes, and
the crowd is very upset. Finally, Casey strikes out, and the crowd is
outraged.
For the winner, I choose The Eagle. I choose it because it had a deeper
meaning and understanding for me. I also liked how used a rhyme scheme of AAABBB. Also, the author used a simile comparing the eagle to a thunderbolt, "He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls." That is why I
choose The Eagle.
The Who has seen the wind? Poem is about wind and what it does I think. I did not understand the poem very much but I liked the way it was layed out how they said neither I nor you and then switched it around. This poem did not have a rhyme scheme.
ReplyDeleteThe poem,If, what I thought this poem was about is God talking to a man or maybe yourself from what you think. The rhyme scheme was AAAABCBCDEDE and so on.
I chose If, as the poem I liked bacause it made me feel good inside and was very understandable and able to read from different perspectives.
The first poem, If, is about what life is like. In each paragraph it states someones feelings, if someone is blaming something on you, if you dream, if you can make one heap of all your winnings,or if you can talk to people.

I choose, If as the winner because it says what life is about at sometimes and has a deeper message the Who has seen the Wind. I also liked how the author made each paragraph rhyme. Also I like that each paragraph had one subject, which was The first sentence, and he wrote supporting details with the subject. That is why I chose If as the winner.
If- is about a dad taking to his son and telling him what to do and what not to do.

I choose Who Has Seen the Wind? because it is more easy to understand. I chose it because I like the writer's craft for it. The writer's craft is ABABCDCD. This is why I choose it
The poem,If, is about a poem that is saying if you can do this than that the poem,If, is also is Alliteration.
ReplyDeleteThe poem, Who Has Seen the Wind, is about a poem saying you can't see the wind but you know it's there for example you can see the trees sway.
My favorite poem is Who Has Seen the Wind because no one has seen the wind but you know it is real. You know that because you can feel it on your hand, blowing through your hair,making the trees sway.
The first poem, If, is about everyone blaming you if you lose, and and if you can win everyone will be proud of you. The second poem, Who Has Seen the Wind, is about no one seeing the wind, but seeing what the wind moves around.
ReplyDeleteI choose Who Has Seen the Wind because I like how it said how we don't see the wind but we hear it and we see the things it moves. I also like that always the first two lines are the same, and the last two lines change each time.
The first poem, If, is about God talking to us and if we follow him we'll be wise. It also has rhyme scheme AAABBCCDDEEFFGG etc.
ReplyDeleteWho Has Seen The Wind is about us when we bow our heads to pray god is speaking over us in prayer. It also has rhyme scheme AABB.
For the winner I chose Who has seen the wind because it has a better meaning, it has God in it, and it has rhyme scheme AA BB.
The first poem If-, is about someone asking you if you can do something. It's rhyming goes all through the poem going, ABAB, then, CDCD. It's sort of like that and then keeps on going.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Has Anybody Seen The Wind?, is about a boy or girl asking has anybody seen the wind? But nobody has seen it but, it blows threw your hair. The rhyming is the same as the other one.
I chose If-, I chose if because it was more realistic. And I really liked the rhyming how it went on forever. Also I had better understanding. That is why I chose If-
The first poem and, If-,Is about a man talking to his son saying that if you can keep your head up,not get caught in lies,and be kind to every one, you will go far.

I choose If- as my favorite because I thought it had a better meaning. the poet used writer's craft of rhyming. He also sent a great message. Both poems were great.
The first poem, If, is about a father who tells his son to not give up or maybe just be your self. The second poem, Who Has Seen the Wind?, was about people who cannot see the wind but trees seem to react when the wind is passing by. My opinion is that Who Has Seen the Wind is the best poem because it was easer to understand and it was interesting because it didn't have a rhyme to it.

I choose Who Has Seen The Wind because it brings you a good message saying that even if you don't see it, the trees will tell you. The rhyme sceem is ABCBDEFE. iT also has alleteration.
The first poem, If, is saying you can do anything, and it sounds like God is talking to this person.

For the winner, I chose If. It has a deeper meaning and I liked the AAAABCBCDEDEFGFGHIHIJKJKLMLMNONO rhyme scheme. I also like the message it is sending, it is telling you to never give up. That is why I chose If.
The poem, Who Has Seen the Wind, is about wind passing through the trees with such grace that the trees bow down. I think this poem is a great poem.

I choose Who Has Seen the Wind. I chose this poem because, I like the ABetc. This poem is also gives me a mental movie of trees blowing. My final reason is I like how they compared trees to humans.

I think the winner is Who Has Seen the Wind. The reason I chose this poem is that it has great repetition. This poem also has a rhyme scheme: AA BB skipping a line every time.
The poem If is about a dad talking to his son about life and the feelings of life. The dad is talking about dreams and your life. Also, it is saying the troubles of everyday life.

I think the winner is Who Has Seen the Wind because I like how it is saying how you can't see the wind but you know and feel when the wind is coming. You can know if a tree is blowing or If the leaves are moving. The rhyme scheme in Who Has Seen the Wind is ABAB.
The first poem, If-, is about life and how you can't let other people get to you, hold on to your dreams, and except life's challenges. The second poem,Who Has Seen The Wind, is about what happens when the wind blows and if I or you have seen it. In my opinion I think Who Has Seen The Wind is my favorite because of the imagery in it. For example, when it says," But when the trees bow down their heads,The wind is passing by." I see trees swaying in the wind.
ReplyDeleteIF is about if you had a chose which you do and you are getting picked on are going are you going to do the right thing or the bad, are you going to keep quiet or going to speak up.Have you Seen the Wind is about how wind comes through and blow things around.I like ,IF, because it is telling a life lesson it wants you to to make a dession the good ,or the bad ,be quiet or,speak up chose one.Also it paints a picture in your head a kid getting picked on and wont speak up.

I chose If, because even though it is very long, there are still so many meanings. It also had repetition, the poem kept saying: "If". It also had a little different rhyme scheme, that was like: AAAA BCBC there was a lot more though. Also, I like how it used a lot of different adgectives.
the first poem, If, is about two parents that want to help their kid to grow up. But he just wants to be his self and not grow up. And hes just doing what God wants him to do.

I chose Who Has Seen The Wind because I like how it is telling somebody they have not seen the wind. I also liked it because it says when the trees bow their heads, wind is passing by.
The first poem, If, is about a kids parents telling him to stand up to anything that comes up in his way. I like at the end when the author wrote, "And-which is more-you'll be a Man, my son." If is an OK poem.
