The poem,”This Is Just to Say,” by William Carlos Williams, is an apology by the author about eating someone’s plums. The mood is humorous and the poem is very ridiculous. It is teaching people a lesson to not touch or eat other people’s things without asking.
The poem,”Choosing Shoes,” by Frida Wolfe, is about a person who is trying to choose the perfect show but can’t decide on a pair. The poem doesn’t really have a mood but it is teaching us that nothing is perfect like everything else.
I chose,”Choosing Shoes,” as the winner because I liked how it showed an example that everything is not perfect because the person couldn’t find the perfect shoes. I thought that was very interesting how the author choose shoes as an example. Anyhow, I liked the rhyme scheme (AAAB) because it went perfectly with the poem. It also had a simile when it said,”Stump-along-like-that shoes.” This poem should definitely be the winner.
The first poem I read was called “The Castle in the Fire” by Mary Jane Carr. The mood of this poem was fantasy and entertainment. The meaning of this poem was to entertain the readers with a cool story about a knight fighting a dragon. I liked the writer's craft of how he described the battle. It really put a picture in my mind. I enjoyed this poem.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem I read was called, “Do you Carrot all for me?” by UNKNOWN. The mood of this poem was funny and entertaining. The meaning of this story was to entertain readers with a funny story filled with homophones. I liked the writer's craft of how he/she used homophones to explain the poem.
For the winner I choose “The Castle in the Fire” by Mary Jane Carr.I enjoyed the rhyme scheme of ABCB. It was an entertaining poem that really painted a picture in my mind of the dragon fighting the knight. This poem is definitely a winner!!!

ReplyDeleteThe second poem, “ Do you carrot at all for me,” by Anonymous, is about the narrator writing a poem that has to do with love and veggies + fruits. The writer uses veggies and fruits for compliments for example, “ My heart beets for you” so it’s basically used a homophone.
I chose,”Do you carrot all for me,” by Anonymous, because I think it’s more clever, like how he used beets instead of beats. It also shows imagery for example: “ And your radish face” doesn’t it make you think of a radish? This poem is definitely the best out of the pear.
-Mary Martha
The first poem, “Do You Carrot All For Me?” is about a vegetable talking to the other one, and wondering if the other vegetable cares at all for him.The mood is goofy because there are phrases that say stuff related to vegetables, and fruits like the title.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, “The Castle In The Fire,” by Mary Jane Carr is about a castle with a princess in it and dragons guarding the entrance. A knight comes and saves the princess. I think the mood is heroic because the knight comes and saves the princess from the dragons.

I also like the metaphors that are in the story like, “With your turnip nose.” I also like the imagery because I could see in my mind how the carrot with the the turnip nose and the radish face looked like. “Do You Carrot All For Me,” is a definite winner.

ReplyDelete‘’The Castle in the Fire’’ is by Mary Jane Carr. It is about Two dragons guarding a castle. In the castle there is a lady. How the lady got out was by a knight who fought the dragons.
I think ‘’The Castle in the Fire’’ is better because the mood it can be anything. I think this because you can take it from anyone perspective. For example if you were looking at the ladies perspective it would be hopeful for the knight. I also like the onomatopoeia. For example crashed and thrusting. THis is why I chose ‘’ The Castle in the Fire.’’
The first poem,”Do you carrot all for me?,”by Anonymous is about how the person is saying do you care at all for me. ReplyDeleteThe first poem, “The Castle In The Fire,” by Mary Jane Carr. It is about a girl who is stuck in a tower, and there are dragons guarding the door way. Then a knight comes, and kills the dragons, and sets the girl free. I think the mood depends on who’s perspective your looking at. If you look at the knights perspective the mood would be intense because he’s fighting the dragons, and trying to save the lady. If you look at it from the lady’s perspective the mood would be hopeful because she is stuck in the tower and needs someone to save her. If you look at it from the dragons perspective the mood would be overconfident because they were overconfident they were going to win the fight.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, “Do You Carrot At All For Me,” by Anonymous. It is about a guy who like a girl, and is asking her if she like him back, but he’s using food name to describe why he likes her. I think the mood is loving because he is basically asking her to marry him when he
Says, “lettuce us get marry.” He used the food lettuce to ask her to marry him.
I chose the first poem, “The Castle In The Fire,” by Mary Jane Carr. It is about a girl that is trapped in a tower and can’t get down. The first poem,” Do You Carrot All For Me?” Is by Anonymous, is a fruits and vegetables poem with words that would make since alone, like for example,”Do you carrot all for me? My heart beets for you.” The word,”carrot” is a vegetable but, ”Care at” is really how it would go, because,” Carrot” and,” Care at” are homophones. The meaning is to entertain readers about fruits and vegetable homophones. The mood is romantic, because it says,” Lettuce marry; Weed make a swell pear.” It talks about someone asking to get married and saying that they would be perfect together.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem,”The Castle In The Fire” by Mary Jane Carr, is a fairytale story about a knight seeing a castle on fire and him rushing towards the castle. He fought dragons and to get her, and he finally got her out. The repudiation is in the poem a lot, for example they have it saying,”And” a lot, and “He” a lot of times. The mood was brave, because the knight took the risk of getting hurt just to save someone he didn’t even know.
I choose,”Do You Carrot All For Me?” I choose this one because I loved the homophones. For example the line,”My heart beets for you,” has a homophone, the homophone is beet. The way they were using it was a food, but the real way is heartbeat. I also loved the mood which was, romantic. This one was a clear winner!
