Your post needs to include the following:
1. What is the meaning of the first poem? (Summarize in one sentence)

2. What is the meaning of the second poem? (Summarize in one sentence)

3. Based on the criteria, which poem did you choose and WHY?

***Please tell me everything you think, but use your best writing.

Here is an example of proficient writing:
The first poem, “The Eagle,” by Lord, Alfred Tennyson, is about an eagle that is hunting, and he jumps off a crag into the water to get a fish. It is a powerful poem which shows the eagle as king of the skies.

The second poem, “Casey at Bat,” by Ernest Lawrence Thayer, is about a baseball star that is over-confident. He lets down his team when they need him to win a game. The mood of the poem changes from the fans starting out hopeless, then hopeful when Casey comes to bat. Then  the mood shifts to anger and blame at the umpire, until finally ending in defeat.

I chose the poem “Casey at Bat” because I like baseball. The author uses a rhyme scheme of AABB. The author also uses a simile to emphasize the volume of the crowd’s roar. He  writes the roar is "like the beating of the storm waves on a stern and distant shore." This poem is a definite winner!

  1. The first poem, “If,” is about being kind. For example, the text says, “And treat those two imposters just the same.” This poem also tells about not hating others for example, “Or being hated, don’t give way to hating.”
The second poem, ‘’Who has seen the wind?” is about the wind being invisible, but when the leaves on a tree are barely hanging on the wind is passing though.
I chose the poem “Who has seen the wind?” I chose is poem because the writer uses personification. For example, “But when the trees bow down their heads.”

  2. The poem, “Who Has Seen the Wind?” by Christina Rossetti, is about how the wind passes. Nobody can actually see the wind, but you can feel it. The mood is calm because of the soft wind. This reminds me of when you are on a boat, the wind feels like it is compelling you away. The lesson is to like the wind, the wind can melt your bad thoughts away. It is like a dancer on a stage. Just plain beautiful!

The poem, “If~,” by Rudyard Kipling, is about if things happen will you show grace. The mood is powerful, because if you don’t then bad things will happen. This reminds me of real life. If you feel useless, then people will treat you like that. The lesson is to believe in yourself, trust others, and show kindness. The person is talking to a young boy.

I really just have to choose “Who Has Seen the Wind?” It shows personifaction like, “but when the leaves hang trembling,” that wouldn’t actually happen. The poem also uses rhyme sheme of ABCC. This poem makes me feel very peaceful. -Maggie Kate #6

  3. The first poem,”If, “ by Rudyard Kipling, is about what you would do if you had lots, or if you could do anything. What you could do if you had everything or you could do anything? The mood of the poem is loving because his dad is telling his son what he should do if he had everything. Also, dad is explaining to his son what he would do if he had everything.
The second poem, “Who has Seen the Wind,” by Christina Rossetti, is about nobody seeing the wind. That it is not possible. Nobody has seen it, and nobody ever will.
I like “If” more because it is about if you have everything what you would do with them? It has a repetition of saying if every other line, and the rhyme scheme is AAAABCBC. I think “If” is a good poem.

The first poem is “Who Has Seen the Wind” by Christina Rossetti. It is about the writer saying that no one has seen the wind and says that when the leaves hang they feel the wind blow and when the trees wave side to side the wind is is passing by.

The second story, “If,” by Rudyard Kipling, is about a father telling his son advice kinda like “Mother to Son.” A dad is saying if you do all this stuff like care for people even if they don’t care for you’ll be a man.

I chose “Who Has Seen the Wind” by Christina Rossetti because I like the calmness of the story and the role that nature plays in it and the mystery of the wind.

  5. The Firs poem,’’If-,’’ is about a father giving advice to his son about keep on trying and never give up on yourself, and don’t feel like you don’t fit in with others. I think the mood of this poem is never give up on yourself.
    By Rudyard Kipling

The second poem,” Have you seen the wind,’’ This poem is about have you seen wind, and kinda do. It’s like when leaves are passing through and the slowly drifted to the ground.
    By Christina Rossetti

I choose,’’If-.’’ I choose If because my dad always tells me that Never give up, and never say no or you can’t do anything, and just from what my dad said I am now really good at bball compared to what I am now. So I made a connection to what my dad said to what the father said in the poem to his child.

  6. The first poem “If,”- is about a person who ‘s getting advice from his dad. For when he grows up so that he can have more friends and a person to love. And he is talking about when you grow up you will be wise.

The second poem, “Who Has Seen The Wind,” is about no one can see the wind but when the trees bow down the wind is passing through and when the leaves are trembling the wind is passing through. She is saying that when something sways in the air. The wind is passing by.

I think the first poem, “If,” is better because I like how the dad is using strong sentences. And he digs deep down in his heart to give him advice. I also like the rhyme scheme [AABB]. \

  7. The poem,”If,” by Rudyard Kipling, is telling you don’t take chances you are guaranteed to fail ,and you should always persevere and never give up. The mood of this poem is loving.
The second poem,” Who Has Seen The Wind,” by Christina Rossetti, is telling you the wind is like God, you can't see it but you know it’s real. The mood of this poem is peaceful.
I chose,”Who Has Seen The Wind,” because the meaning is important to me. Also, the poem has personification. For example, the poem says,”But when the trees bow down their heads.” He is saying the trees get blown over by the wind. This is the poem I think should win game 4.

The mood of the second poem, “ Who Has Seen The Wind?” by Christina Rossetti is Peaceful. The meaning is even if you can’t see love, it is still there.

  9. The first poem, “Casey At The Bat,” by Ernest Lawrence Thayer, is about a baseball game, and the score is 4 to 2.Every player that tries to make a run is out right away. Then, Casey is up to bat. Everyone liked Casey. He was like the star of the show. Until he was up to bat. Casey Striked out! I think the mood is selfish. Casey is being selfish because all he cares about is himself. He to busy trying to get attention, then he strikes out.

The second poem, “The Eagle,” by Alfred, Lord Tennyson is about a eagle hanging onto a cliff with his crooked bird hands because he is looking for food in the ocean, and he is about to swoop down and get his food. The eagle holds on tightly as the waves of the ocean rumble beneath him. He holds on tightly as he swoops down into the rumbling waves of the deep blue ocean to get his food. I think the mood is peaceful because, the eagle is just looking for food, and he is very calm and relaxed.

I chose, “Casey At The Bat,” by Ernest Lawrence Thayer because I think it has a better story, and is easier to understand. “Casey At The Bat” has a rhyme scheme of AA BB CC and more. I also used the rhyme scheme to help me. “Casey At The Bat’ uses metaphors such as “The sneer is gone from Casey’s lips, his teeth are clenched in hate.”

  10. The first poem,”If~,” by Rudyard Kipling is about a dad who is giving advice to his son. The dad also tells the son that he will go through a hard time every once in a while, but to never give up in those times. The mood changes from sad and almost giving up to positive and happy.

The second poem,”Who Has Seen The Wind?,” by Christina Rossetti is about not seeing the wind, but feeling the wind.It explains that by saying,”But when the leaves hang trembling, The wind is passing through.”The mood is peaceful because it is about the wind and nature.

I choose,”If~,” Because I can relate to the story, and I have gone through some hard times before. I also like the rhyme scheme, which is ABAB and so on. I think,”If`,” is a definite winner.

I pick as my winner,”Who Has Seen The Wind” because it is inspiring and had great rhymes. The writer's craft was that it had great rhymes.it had great alliteration. For example, It said,”neither I nor you. So I pick as my winner,”Who Has Seen The Wind.”

  13. The first poem, “Who Has Seen the Wind?” by Christina Rossetti, was about how no one has seen the wind, but you can see it in action. The mood is energy and enthusiasm trying to see the wind, but you can´t you can only see it in action not the real actual wind. The wind in action is seeing it blow trees or feeling its soft hands on your back or neck. Also, it asked questions and tells you somewhat of an answer.
The second poem, Ïf,¨ by Rudyard Kipling, was about all the ifs and if this then if that kinda thing. The mood was gloomy and hopeful, because it's sort of down but is still hopeful in trust. It also states where if there´s an if there´s an and. This was a little bit confusing when you would figure out the rhyme scheme if there is one.Lastly, the parts where it gives rhyme scheme that makes since I like it but when it didn´t I did not like it or understand it that much.
I choose the first poem,¨Who Has Seen the Wind?,¨ by Christina Rossetti besause it was a real winner to me because it was short but had great detail and was very entertaining it that short span of reading it.Also the rhyme scheme was ABCB and I think that is better than AABBCCDD and so on.The part that really got me was where it was short but yet very detailed and the second poem was long and not very detailed.

  17. I think the first poem, “ Casey at the Bat,” by Ernest Lawrence Thayer, is about a overachieving baseball player that only thinks of himself. Then, he is called up to bat he could win or lose, but he misses every single time.

The next poem, “ The Eagle,” by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, is descripting a eagle standing on a crag over a body of flowing water. It shows that he is king of everything .

I chose “The Eagle,” because it doesn’t tell you that he is a eagle you have to figure it out. The author uses personification when he says, “The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls.” The rhyme scheme is AAAA. I think this is the best poem between the two.

  18. The first poem,”If,” by Rudyard Kipling, is about the father and talking about how you can become a man. The father was also say some people will laugh at you, but stay strong and be a good man. I think the mood is that you need to perseverance because growing up is tough.I think the story has a good meaning. This also reminds me of “Mother to Son.”

The second poem,”Who’s Seen the Wind,” by Christina Rossetti, is about that you can’t actually see the wind ,but you can feel it, hear it, and see what it’s doing. The mood of the poem is relaxing and peaceful because wind is wavey and a relaxing sound.I think the storys meaning is even if you think you can’t see the wind it is still there.

I choose,”If,” by Rudyard Kipling, because I think it has a good meaning about that growing up is hard and alot of people can relate to that. The author used a rhyme scheme, for example, AAAABCBCD and so on. This is wny I choose this poem.

  19. The first poem, “If,” by Rudyard Kipling, is about a dad telling his son that one day he will be a man. The dad is giving the boy advice for when he is older. The dad said, “ You will be a man, my son.” That gave me the hint that there was a dad talking to his son. I think the mood is perseverance because the dad is telling the boy he will have to persevere because life is not easy.

The second poem, “Who Has The Wind,” by Christina Rossetti, is about even though you can’t see the wind you know it’s there. You can feel the wind and you can see the wind make things move, but you can physically see it. I think the mood is peaceful and relaxing because while I was reading it made me feel very relaxed and calm.

I chose “If,” Rudyard Kipling, because I think it has a better story than “Who Has The Wind.“If” has repetition and uses a rhyme scheme. It repeats the word “If” and “If You” and has a rhyme scheme of AAAA BCBC and so on. I like how it’s a dad giving his son advice for when he gets older. I relate to this because both my mom and dad give me advice for when I’m older all the time.

  20. The first poem I read was “Who has seen the wind?” by Christina Rossetti. The mood of this poem was calm and slow. The meaning of “Who Has Seen the Wind” was that no one has seen the wind (Makes sense-right?) Finally, I enjoyed how he described the wind passing by. I enjoyed “Who Has Seen the Wind?”

The second poem I read was called “If-” by Rudyard Kipling. The mood of this poem is teaching and learning. The meaning of “If-” was to tell you about how life can be strange, and sometimes dangerous (Emotional and Physically). I enjoyed how he metaphor things like, “ If you can make one heap of all your winnings, and risk it on one turn of pitch and toss, and lose.” I enjoyed “If-”.

I think that If- is a winner. I think this because it has great description and details. It shows many, many metaphors and I think that it is a really meaningful poem.I like the rhyme scheme of AAAABCBCD. I think “If-” Is a total winner!!

  21. I think the first poem,”Who Has Seen The Wind,” by Christina Rossetti, is not about wind at all if you really think about it, the poem is saying that you can’t see the wind but you know it is there just like God. I think the mood is peaceful, because no noise is near everything is soft and soothing. I also think the mood is peaceful because when wind passes by it just slowly happens, and everytime it does it happens for a reason.

I think the second poem,”If,” by Rudyard Kipling, is about a father talking to his son not about life being perfect, not for you to win everything and lose once and start at the beginning, it is about life being rocky and for you to cherish every moment. The father is also sharing his wisdom and sharing advice as well. I think the mood is loving because the father is looking out for his son.

I choose the poem,”Who Has Seen The Wind,” because it talks about the wind and how do we see it. Well I think that it is really saying that even though you can’t see the wind it is always there, just like God, he is always in our lives and we always know he is there. I loved the rhyme scheme.

  22. ‘’If’’ is by Rudyard Kipling. It is about a dad giving his son advice for when he gets older. I think that this is sweet for the dad to be getting him ready for he life.

‘’Who Has Seen the Wind’’ is by Christina Rossetti. It is about if you have seen the wind. Just in general like the wind flying around.

I chose If- because I like how kind the dad is being to the son. I also like the alliteration it uses. For example, ‘’ treat those two.’’ The other things I like about it is it’s rhyme scheme. The rhyme scheme is A/A/A/A/B/C/B/C/D. That is why I chose it.

The second poem, “IF-”, is about someone asking their son if he can do things, like “If you can keep your when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you”.
I choose, “IF-” because it makes more sense than, “Who has Seen the Wind” and it is longer the rhyme scheme is AAAABCBC. The mood is calm also because it is calming.

The second poem, “Who Has Seen the Wind,” by Christina Rosseti, is about that no one has seen the wind but yet is all around you.
I chose, “Who Has Seen the Wind,” as the winner because I thought it was interesting how it was saying no one has seen the wind but yet it is all around us. Also, it had personification when it said,”But when the leaves hang trembling,” which was the leaves blowing in the wind.
