Dear Readers,
As an avid reader, I often find myself finishing a great book or an interesting article, and desperately wanting to share my thoughts with someone. When I lived in Charleston, I was lucky enough to have a group of friends who shared a passion for reading, so we formed a book club. While I am not in the same city as my book club anymore, I still reach out to my friends and family in Nashville, to discuss my questions and opinions about literature.
As a classroom of learners, we have created a community geared toward having a teachable spirit, so we may grow to become people of knowledge, wisdom, and ultimately character. One way we do this is by reading and forming ideas and connections that begin to shape us. In order to support this work, this blog will serve as a way to discuss various things when we are not in the class. Essentially, the blog will become a virtual classroom.
For example, I might post about a response about Thank You, Mr. Falker by explaining my connection to the character, Trish. I might say how much I relate to her overcoming an obstacle with the help of a teacher and how motivated I was to find out the author was the one who overcame her learning hurdle and became a published author. You will have the same chance to post your reactions, but also, to respond to what someone else might say. In this way, our posts become a conversation when we are away from the classroom.
As we begin this online blogging adventure, I challenge you to bring your working minds to the keyboard and let me know your thoughts and feelings about literature. We have so much to discover ...

I have a strong connection to Danny from Danny and that Champion of the World.My connection is of how close he is with his dad.I am also really close with my dad.

This can be a part of my life because without reading then you can't complete school and if you can't complete school then you can't get a job and if you can't get a job then you can't make money if you can't make money then you can't get a house or buy food and if you can't do that then you can't have kids and if you can't have kids then you have no porpose in life and if you have no purpose in life then you die. So... you need to read. Also, I like reading because it feels like you are watching a movie! A really strong connection to a character in my book is Sophie foster, Keefe Caseous and Fitz Vacker.

Mrs.Braddy to answer your question. Literature is a huge part of my life because my mom and dad recommend great books to me.Now for the second question. I have made a great connection to Auggie from the book Wonder. I have a connection with him because one he is smart,two he likes Halloween,and finally three his family is just like mine so I can relate to things that happen.

ReplyDeleteLiterature is a part of my life because if I said a word wrong I could not take it back, but I could re-pronounce the word, but it would still mean you miss pronounced it. I have made a strong connection with, Brian in the book Hatchet, He gets lost in the woods and he misses his family allot. My connection was that I also miss my family some times.

In the book,Rotten Richie And The Ultimate Dare, there are two character, Trisha and Richie.Trisha and Richie challenge each other to do one of their favorite things, for an example of the two things are that Trisha loves ballet and Richie loves hockey. So Trisha has to play a hockey game and Richie has to be in a ballet recital. They both amit that the thing they did was hard and they forgive each other. This book reminds me of my sister and me when we fight. Sure we fight sometimes but when the fight is over we forgive each other.

Dear Mrs.Braddy,I am reading the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Meltdown.There is a moment when Greg was playing on his video game but than his mother said,"You need to play outside!"So he went outside and he had actually had a really fun time intel the lower kids attacked and they had to attack back. So the hill kids had to work together. They did lose but they had a fun time. And his mom was proud.Brooke

DeleteLiterature is important for me because it helps me get lost in a story and feel like i'm friends with the character, or a bystander. I made a connection to Emmie from Invisible Emmie how I feel like i'm invisible, or my brother moved away to college a long time ago, and made me feel lonely being the only child in the house. It makes me feel bad inside when people say I wish I didn't have a sibling, because some people don't and are feel left out.

ReplyDeleteI'm reading WARRIORS by Erin Hunter. I'm not very far in the book yet, literature is a part of my life because getting in the reading zone makes me feel like i'm inside of the story and spying (not in a weird way) on the characters. In my book so far, i've discovered the two main characters, Graystripe,and Millie the cats. Graystripe's clan and home are gone! He has no idea what to do! at least Millie's there to help him. I've already made a connection with Millie the cat. She is a VERY adventurous cat, and focused on all of her work that she won't even talk! I can't wait to get to know my characters better! ReplyDeleteLiterature is a huge part of my life because I read for at least 1 hour each day and I love it! I am reading a great book called Waste Of Space. In this book there is a character called Vielot. I am most like her because she is always happy and so am I (For example, if my leg were to get cut off, instead of saying, "Ow, my leg!" I would say, "Hooray! Half price peticures for life! Just kidding! :)

ReplyDeleteI LOVE reading. I like it because it is pretty easy for me to just take a book and read. A book I enjoyed recently is Diary of a Wimpy Kid: the Meltdown. It is mostly about a kid named Greg who goes through adventures in life. At the end of the book there is a huge snowball fight! It is the hill kids vs the non-hill kids. Greg is on the hill kids side. I liked the book because it was funny.

ReplyDeleteI am reading Worrier. This is a moment a little kit fell off a cliff and his eye popped out and now he has a leaf over his eye and he showed 2 of his friends. I can make a connection to that because when I fractured my growth plate on my ankle and I showed all of my friends. And that's how I can real late to literatur.

Dear Mrs.Braddy I am reading the Flash and A character I made a strong connections with is Cisco. Because he watches a lot of old movies like Star Wars, Aliens, and Friday because he says hi Feliesha and. He also likes creating things like outfits same as me and he is most of the time eating candy but he is also funny you know just like me *wink wink*. But really Cisco gives a strong connection to me.
