Roger the Dog is about a lazy dog.
ReplyDeleteI can make a connection with it because my cat, fisher is lazy. He even sleeps on the dog bed.
I like Roger the Dog because it is funny and good.
I think, Roger the Dog, should win it all! It is really easy to relate to, and its funny!

In Roger The Dog the rhyme scheme is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. It uses the five senses also in this poem.

I like how the writer uses internal rhyming. For example." Asleep he wheezes at his ease. He only wakes at his ease."
I choose Roger the Dog because I have more of a connection with this story. I have puppy like Roger that likes to eat and sleep. She will even eat my other dog's leftovers. I also like how he uses the rhyme:(AABBCCDDEEFFGGHH). That is why I choose Roger the dog.

I liked this poem because it had poet's craft. It had metaphors. For example, " Life for me ain't been no crystal stare." I liked how the author of the poem described it. How when you are looking out a clear window vs. a foggy window.
That is why I think Mother to Son should be the Poetry Madness champion.

I really like the onomatopoeia of this poem and the alliteration of the poem as well. For example, "The he flops flat and digs down deep." I also adore the rhyme scheme which was AA AA. So overall this is the true winner.

I chose the poem, Mother To Son. I like the meaning of never giving up through the hard times. She used examples, by saying, "Life for me ain't been no crystal stair."
ReplyDeleteI can connect to this poem when the Mother says, "So boy, don't you turn back now." After school and sports when I'm really tired and brain dead my Mom tells me I work to hard to quit. I see a resemblance in the two sayings.
I enjoy the repetition saying, "and" at the beginning majority of verses. An alliteration is, goin' down dark.
I really enjoyed the overall poem and hope it wins!!
I think that Mother To Son should win because it has a better meaning than the poem, Roger the Dog. For example, it is about a mother comforting her son and telling him that life hadn't been a crystal stair for me.

It has poet's craft when it says, Life ain't been no crystal stair for me. I think that other to Son should win.

ReplyDeleteMy connection and why it means more to me is that Roger is just like my dog, Sam. He will use all his energy to eat,and then be lazy for the rest of the day! They are literally twins!
I like that the writer's craft includes a rhyme scheme. The rhyme scheme is A A for each stanza. I also liked that it used alliteration for the word he.
I think, Roger The Dog, should win. The reason it should win is because Mother To Son is not interesting to me because it is boring. I like some poems that are about funny meanings sometimes.

The Poet's craft I like is the Rhyme Scheme and the little bit of similes in Roger The Dog. The rhyme scheme I like is (AABBCC), and one of the similes I like in it is "He bakes his head as if it were a loaf of bread."

This is also a emotional poem it is very heartfelt and touching! It is very sweet how the mother talks to her son it is very touching!
The writer's craft I like is it has a lot of metaphors which I like! Some examples are Life ain't been no crystal stair. I also like how it used repetition in the beginning with "and".
