The first poem, Monther to Son, was about a mother who was telling her son not to let his life turn out like her's.

I chose Life Doesn't Frighten Me because I really like how nothing frightens the little girl.

The first poem,Mother to Son,is about a mom telling her kid to never give up no matter how tough life gets and that her life wasn't a crystal stair either.

I think the winner is Mother to Son because it's about a a mom telling her son to keep on pushing and to dodge the obstacles in her way. there is no rhyme scheme.

I liked Mother to Son because of the comparison of her life not living on the crystal stair,I also loved how she would explain about her life,and I loved the title.

I think the winner is Life Doesn't Frighten Me. The reason I chose this poem is because it uses imagery like," Big ghosts in a cloud." and ," Shadows on the wall." Another reason is because of the repetition. That is why I chose this poem as the winner.

ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Life Doesn't Frighten Me, is about a boy and everything that scares everybody but him. He thinks that is only his magic charm, but I think it is because he tells himself that he is not afraid.
I chose Mother to Son because even though it has no rhyme scheme, it uses imagery to describe what her life looks like. For example, "And sometimes going in the dark, where there ain't been no light." It also uses a metaphor when it compares her life to a crystal stair. My connection is that my mom also likes to tell me about real life.
The poem, Life Does Not Frighten Me, is about a girl that is not scared of anything. This poem kind of reminds me of movies when people are not scared of anything but it turns out they are. I like this poem a lot.

I chose Mother to Son as the winner because the mother refers to her life as a tough flight of stairs.Also,the poem had great imagery because it made you feel as if you are walking up that flight of stairs with her.In the poem the mother says to her son that he does not need to give up if the going gets hard.That is why I chose Mother to Son as the winner of game one of the final four.

I choose Life Doesn't Frighten Me as the winner because I like that she isn't scared of anything. I also like in the poem when it says Bad dogs barking loud Big ghosts in a cloud life doesn't frighten me at all. The author uses the rhyme scheme AAA, BB, A, CC, A, DD, A, EE, ect. Also, the author used repetition by using the word all a lot.

Life Doesn't frighten me was about someone telling you that nothing frightens him and then he lists the things that don`t frighten him. I like Mother to Son the best. I liked it because the mother uses metaphors, like life for me ain't been no crystal stair. I also think it is sweet how the mother says, "So, boy, don't turn your back, don't sit down on the steps, cause you finds it's kinder hard. Don't you fall now- for I'se still goin' honey, I'se still climbing, and life for me ain't been no crystal stair." I also like how this poem has deep emotion, and the mother repeats the line, "Life for me ain't been no crystal stair." GO MOTHER TO SON!!!!!
