Dear students,
For your final blog posts, you will write a persuasive paragraph in a series called "Would You Rather." In each post, I will give you a scenario, and you will have to defend your answer using the following criteria:
- A topic sentence stating your opinion
- At least 3 supporting sentences defending your opinion
- One counter argument
- A concluding sentence summarizing your writing
Here is your "Would You Rather" for today:
Would you rather always have to say everything on your mind or never speak again?
Please remember to check for mistakes by reading aloud your post to yourself before you publish it. I cannot wait to see what you write!
Your teacher,
Mrs. Braddy
I would rather say everything in my mind than never talk again. First, you can have conversations with people. Second, if I never talk again I could not talk to my friends. Third, I will get to talk at work or with my kids when I grow up. Some may say never talking again is better because you might have something mean to say. Thats why I choose talking whatever is in my mind.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to always say what was on my mind or never speak again, I would always say what was on my mind. I'm pretty chatty at my house and I don't think I could ever go without talking ever again. It is also good to speak your mind even if you are afraid. You need to tell people what you think, even if they don't listen. Also, if you have a secret that you really want tell, you can and you won't get in trouble because you can't help it! Although, some people may argue that never speaking again is better. After all, there are other ways of communicating. You could write messages, learn hand hand motions, and many more. But I think it is important to speak. Your voice is a part of you and you should keep it.
ReplyDeleteI would say everything on my mind because If I picked never speak again then I wouldn't be able to talk to anyone and it would be hard to learn sign language. However, some people might like it if they could never speak again because if you were thinking about something bad you would say it out loud ,and that would be embarrassing.Overall,I think that it would be better to say whats on your mind than to never speak again.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose between always saying what's on my mind, or never speaking again. I would choose never speaking again. I chose this because if you always say what's on your mind it could come out awkward or weird. Also I chose never speaking again because you will never have to publick speak again! Another reason why I would never talk again is that I would never have to really do anything and I will never get in trouble for saying anything again. But some people may argue that saying what's on your mind is better because their mind is lollipops and rainbows and nothing bad comes out. This is why I think that never speaking again is better.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to say everything that is my mind or not talk at all, I would not talk at all. First, I wouldn't hurt anyone's feelings. Second, I could always win The Silent Game. Finally, this might make me listen more. However, others might think having to say everything on your mind is better. This might be better because you would be able to talk, you might say something to help someone, and not talking might stop you from doing something. That might be better for some people, but I would not like it very much. Those are my reasons for not talking again.
ReplyDeleteIf I was asked between never talking again or keeping the same words I would never say it again. First, you could get in trouble. Second bad stuff can happen. Finally It could be stuck in your brain. However, keeping the same words in your brain could be cool. You could have a good imagination, but I prefer not saying it again.
ReplyDeleteI would rather never talk again then say everything that is on your mind. First, I would not have to worry about talking about my worries. Second, I would never run out of breath talking because I can't even do it! Finally, I if I said everything on my mind, I might have something embarrassing on my mind. However, some people want to say everything on their mind because some people just have to talk. I would never talk again instead of saying everything on my mind.
ReplyDeleteI would rather speak everything on my mind than not speak at all. First, you can talk with friends. Second, you can tell your family things. Third, I could tell someone something that is hard to explain. A reason why people might choose to never speak is you could say something. That is why I chose to speak every thing on my mind.
ReplyDeleteIf I could either never talk again or say everything on my mind I would rather say everything on my mind. First, I want to be able to talk. Second, I want to be able to talk to my family. Finally, I would to be able to talk to my friends. However, Some people may argue that never talking again would be better because they could hurt someone's feelings but, think about never talking again... yeah I know it's terrible. So that's why I want to say everything on my mind.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose between never speaking again and saying everything on my mind I would choose to say everything on my mind. First, I like to get to know people and have conversations. Second, I would not like to not speak because I would have to learn sign language or write everything down on paper. Lastly, I would get to share what I am feeling and not be afraid of what other people think. So, I would have to just say it. However, others may say that saying everything on your mind would hurt others feelings. But, I think they would understand if I had to say everything on my mind. I would choose saying everything on my mind if I had to choose.
ReplyDeleteIf I had the choice of speaking my mind or never speaking again, I would go with speaking my mind. There is barely any point of friends and family if you can't talk to them. Although some may say that not talking again is better, because It would give away all your personal information and your secrets. But never speaking again? That is just horrible. I would go speaking my mind.
ReplyDeleteIf I had a choice to speak whatever is on my mind or to never speak again, I would speak whatever is on my mind.First,
ReplyDeleteIt would almost be like having a super power .Second, I would be able to say what I think almost every second. Some people may say that never speaking again because maybe sometimes it would be annoying .I think it would be amazing if I could say what ever is on my mind.
If I had to choose between never speaking again or always saying what was on my mind, I would choose always saying what was on my mind. Here are my reasons why. First, you would still be able to talk. Second, you would be a more truthful and trustworthy. Lastly, you need to talk to do just about everything from a job interview to a speech.
ReplyDeleteHowever, some may argue that never speaking again would be better because you wouldn't hurt anyones feelings. But, if you never spoke again how would you communicate. That is why saying whatever is on your mind is better than never speaking again.
If I had to choose between always saying what was on my mind or never to be able to speak again. I would choose never to be able to speak again. Here are some reasons why. First, If I was thinking about something mean, private, or personal I would not want to say it. Second, It wouldn't be that bad if I could never talk again because I could learn sign language and I would still be able to hear. Finally, I would get in trouble for talking out of tern and I could get in trouble for saying something mean, But although I like to talk, I would not want to say whatever is on my mind.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to chose between always speaking what's on my mind or never speak again I would chose to always speak what's on my mind. First, I'm not really afraid to share what's on my mind and not speaking again, that's just mean. Second, what would you do if you couldn't talk. If you couldn't talk you you wouldn't be able to express your feelings. Finally, If you didn't talk you wouldn't be able socialize with your friends. However, some may argue that if you didn't talk you wouldn't have hurt anyone's feelings. I would chose to always share my feelings.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose between always speaking my mind or never speaking again, I would never speak again. First, I don't always like to talk. Second, sometimes I think about private things. Finally, if someone was near me that I didn't like, I wouldn't want to tell that person what I was thinking. Some might say that always speaking your mind is better because you could still talk but if you can't talk you can write what you want to say. That's why I would never speak again if I had to.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to I would have to choose to speack in my head I would hate all of the chosses but I dont no what to choose from since I can speak riguraly
ReplyDeleteI would choose to never talk again because. First if someone is bullying me for a long time then I would just sock'em in the mouth and not say anything. Second, if I were to say everything on my mind then I might hurt some people's feelings, and that is bad. Third, when we have work time in class I don't have to get in trouble for talking because I can try sign language. Some people might say, saying everything on your mind is good because you can tell the truth. Well not for me I don't want to hurt anyones feelings. In conclusion I would take not speaking ever again over speaking what's on your mind.
ReplyDeleteIf I had the choice of saying everything that's on my mind or not saying anything at all, I would choose to not say anything at all. First, because you don't have to lie and you can always be quiet. Second, you don't have to get in trouble for talking bad things. Some may think that it is better to say what is on your mind because you can always be honest but I think it is better not to say anything.
ReplyDeleteI would rather never speak again than say everything on your mind. First, you can just nod your head. Second, you might have something really really really weird on your mind. Third, you have secrets in your mind if you would say it it wouldn't be a secret anymore. Last, you can just mouth the words you want to say and just right on a piece of paper. That is why I choose to never talk again.
ReplyDeleteI would rather not speak again. Sometimes I think things that people would not want to know. I have private things that are for me and I would not want to tell anyone. And last people would think i'm annoying because I have a lot of things In my head and i could not stop talking about it. Some people would rather say things in your mind because then you could talk to people. But you could use sign language or write down what you want to say instead of talking. That's why I would rather not speak at all.
ReplyDeleteI would choose to speak what is on my mind. First, if I never talked I could never say what I'm feeling or I could never speak to anybody! Second, If I spoke my mind I would not be scared of what to say and what I can't say, I would always say my mind. Finally, If I never spoke again I could never talk to my friends or my family! Some may argue because they don't want to be embarrassed or they might not want to hurt people's feelings. That is why I would choose to speak my mind.
ReplyDeleteI would rather never speak again then always say what's on my mind. First, what if you said something really embarrassing. Second, if you have a secret to tell, you would HAVE to say it.
ReplyDeletethird, you could use a text-to-speech website. However, some may argue that it would be better say what's on your mind because they can't help talking. like my sister. that's why I would choose to never speak again.
If I had to choose between never talking again, or always saying what on my mind, I would never talk again. First, if I was getting in trouble then I wouldn't have to speak to them and they would know that. Second, sometimes the things on my mind are awkward or just plain weird. Third, if someone is being mean to you you don't have to say anything back or make anyone mad. But others may want want to say everything on their mind. Others would probably chose to say everything on their mind because they're veryyy chatty. But I would never speak again.
ReplyDeleteIf I could choose between always telling your thoughts, or never talking again. I would choose never talking again because you could learn sign language, or you could be a mime. However some may argue that that never talking again is not as bad as saying your thoughts because you could tell someone how you feel about them. However I disagree because you could hurt someone's feelings, and it is embarrassing to tell someone you like how you feel. So I would choose to never talk again.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose between always saying what was on my mind or, never speaking again, I would choose never speaking again. One, because I could write out what I would want to say. Two, I could use sign language to speak. Finally, I would have a lot of quiet time. However, some may argue that saying what's on your mind all the time is better, but what if you have to keep a secret? Yeah, have a fun time with that. So that's why I think never speaking again is the right choice.
ReplyDeleteI think that I would rather never talk again. First, I would never talk again because you could just write things down on a piece of paper or you could just do what you are supposed to do. Second, I like being organized and I love reading so, I don't really have to talk to do any of those things. Finally, I would rather keep my mouth shut so I don't get in any trouble. However, I don't understand why anybody would want to choose to
ReplyDeletesay whatever is on their mind. Those are my reasons why I would
never speak again.
if i could choose never speaking again or speaking whatever is on your mind. i would choose to say whatever is on my mind because you would never lie and you would be more trustworthy. But some may think that they would hurt someone's feelings but if you never spoke again then you would never talk. So that is why i would say whatever is on my mind.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose whether I would never talk again or having to say everything in my head I would never talk again. One reason is, sometimes if I am mad I say things in my head, so I would probably get in so much trouble every second. Second reason is, conversations would be very wierd. Finally, I wouldn't want to have say everything period. However some people would say saying everything on your mind because at least you could talk but I disagree. That is why I would rather never talk again.
ReplyDeleteIf I either had to speak my mind or never talk again, I would choose to never talk again. If you're thinking something it that would hurt someone's feelings than they wouldn't want to be friends with you. Your mind is a safe place to think whatever you want to think without any judging. Also if you say everything on your mind you would get in a lot of trouble. Some people may argue that speaking your mind would be better, but think about all the trouble you would get in. What if you had a secret that you promised to keep. You would most likely tell it to someone. If you had a crush on someone that you didn't want to tell anyone than you would probably him/her. That is why I would choose to never talk again.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose between saying whatever was on my mind or never talk again, I would say whatever was on my mind. First of all, you could whisper it very quietly if it was not the best choice in words. Second of all, if you wanted to say something to someone it would just come out you wouldn't even have to think about it. Finally, if you could never talk again then how would you communicate with people. Although, some people may say if you are going to say something very bad then it would just come out. And those are the reasons why I would just say whatever was on my mind.
ReplyDeleteI would rather never speak again because if you say what you think it could hurt other people feeling. You say something it can be mean. That why I would rather never speak again.
