Dear students,
For your final blog posts, you will write a persuasive paragraph in a series called "Would You Rather." In each post, I will give you a scenario, and you will have to defend your answer using the following criteria:
- A topic sentence stating your opinion
- At least 3 supporting sentences defending your opinion
- One counter argument
- A concluding sentence summarizing your writing
Here is your "Would You Rather" for today:
Would you rather have the ability to see 10 years into your own future or one year into the future of the world?
Please remember to check for mistakes by reading aloud your post to yourself before you publish it. I cannot wait to see what you write!

P.S.-Here is my example:
If I had the choice to have a 3-day weekend every week or have an extra month of summer vacation, I would rather have a 3-day weekend every week. If I had a 3-day weekend instead of 2 days, I would get a lot more done! In addition, I would not have to work as much, and I could spend more time working out, shopping, reading, relaxing, and hanging out with my friends. Plus, I would not feel so rushed on my weekends. I could even go out of town for long weekends and visit family and friends! However, some may prefer an extra month of summer vacation because they could take longer trips. I think the benefits of longer weekends outweigh the benefits of an extra month of summer. I prefer having a 3-day weekend rather than having another month of summer vacation.
If I had to chose between 10 years into my own future or 1 year in the world's future, I would definitely chose 10 years into my own future. I would chose this because you can see what your life turns into, see what birthday presents you get, and see if you go to any awesome parties. Some may argue that seeing the world's future is better. They may say you can see what things change in your state, or see what happens to the world when you get older. But I think it would be way cooler to see things when you're 20. That's why I think that going into the future 10 years is way cooler.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose between seeing 10 years into my future or 1 year into the world's future, I would choose seeing 10 years into my future. You could see if you were doing well on your driving. You could see if you got a job. You could see if your sibling is driving well. However, Seeing 1 year into the future could be fun. You could see what the president has done, but I prefer 10 years into my future.
ReplyDeleteI would rather see one year in the future of the world rather than to see 10 years into the future of my life. Here's why, I would not want to try to change what my life would be. Next, If the world was going to end up bad. I would want to try to make a difference. Finally, I would want to prepare myself for the world. However, others may say that seeing your future would make you feel ready for your life. But, I chose seeing into the world because I want to make a difference in the world. I would rather see one year into the world's future.
ReplyDeleteI would be able to see ten years into my future because i would be able to see if i was doing good in college and in school.It would also allow me to change my future if it was not so good.However,some people might want to be able to see into the world's future by one year because if something bad was going to happen,they could stop it.Overall,I think getting to see into my future is better.
ReplyDeleteI would rather see me in 10 years than see the world in a year. I would get to see the world in 10 years and see if the alto drivingcar has been invented. I could also see my childrens. Also I can see what they where then. Other may think seeing the world in 1 year is better because there might be a new Iphone. Thats why I choose to see myself in 10 years.
ReplyDeleteIf there was a choice of seeing ten years into my future or one year into the world's future, I think I would go ten years into my future. Although I could see what has happened to the world in one year like, new phones, cars, places, presidents, and lots of others,I would like to see how I turn out in ten years. I'll be twenty, so a lot of things would be different. I'd probably look different, sound different, and go to college. My family would be different to. (I would really like to see how my siblings turned out!) It would be cool to know where I went to school, what things I do, and what friends I have. I always have wanted to know what would happen as the years go by. But since we can't time travel, I guess we will never really know. We just have to wait for it.

My reasons why are that you could see how you have changed. I could also see what decisions I made that made my life good or bad. Lastly, I can prepare myself for what I have in the future.
ReplyDeleteHowever, some may argue that seeing 1 year into the world's future would be better. But if you only saw 1 year into the future not a lot of things would change.
That is why it would be better to see 10 years into your future than seeing 1 year into the world's future.
If I had the choice of going one year into my own future or ten years into my own future, I would rather see ten years into my own future. I could see all of the things people have invented, and what is going to happen when I am twenty-one. Although some may say one year into the world's future, but if you do the math it's only 365 days against 3650 days. That is why I would go ten years into my own future.
ReplyDeleteIf I could look a year into the world's future or ten years into my future, I would choose to look a year in the world's future. Here are three reasons why. First, I could stop something bad from happening. Second, I could find out something I could do that would help me in the future. Finally, I could see what not to do in that year. However, some people would like to see ten years in their own future. This might be cool because you could how you turn out, your job, and what you did in your past. Even though that would be fun, I would still rather look a year into the world's future. That is why I think looking a year into the world's future is better than looking ten years in my future.
ReplyDeleteIf I could choose to see ten years in my future or to see one year into the world's future I would Choose to see ten years in my future. I would choose to see ten years into my future so I could know what happen in my life like seeing if I get injured or to see if I would become famous or to just know what I look like. However, Some people may argue if they could see one year into the world's future to see if they made into a school when you're graduating from another school or maybe they wouldn't want to know what happened that far ahead because they would be nervous but, If you could see ten years in your future you could know if you got what you have always dreamed of getting Like maybe an item very expensive but you could afford in the future. So that's why I would choose ten years in my future.

Also you can see where you are in ten years if you have moved or something.Finally, you can see how you act at the age you are. However, some people prefer seeing the world's future because you can see how the world has changed. The winner is............seeing 10 years into my future.
ReplyDeleteI would rather see ten years into my future than one year into the world's future. You could see what is going to happen in your life and see how good you are doing. If you don't like your future you can change it. Some people might chose the world so you can change things but not that many things are going to happen in one year. That is why I chose ten years.

ReplyDeleteIf I had to chose between seeing myself in ten years and seeing the world in one year, I would chose seeing myself in ten years. If you could see yourself in ten years you could really see what you've always wanted to see or do. The world doesn't change in one year except for maybe the new iphone comes out. However some may argue that if did see the world in one year it could've totally changed. Maybe a lot happened that year. If It was me going to chose I would say to see myself in ten years.
ReplyDeleteIf someone asked me if I would rather have the ability to see ten years into my future or see one year into the world's future, I would want to see ten years into my future because I could see farther into the future and figure out more of what's going to happen the world, and I would be able to see what's going to happen to me and I could try and stop bad things, But it would be cool to see one year into the world's future, But I would still go with seeing ten years into my future.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose seeing ten years into my future or one year into the world's future ,I think I would choose ten years into my future .One reason why is because when you think about it the world is not really going to change that much in one year.I think it would be cool to see how I look and get to know how my personality is.Someone might want to see into the world's future because there could be some amazing invention ,but really in ten years there is going to be lots of inventions !In my opinion I think that looking at my ten years of my future is better!

Second, I could see where I live. Finally, I could see what my job is. Some might say that it would be better to see 1 year into the world's future because you could see if something bad was going to happen, but if you see your future, the bad thing might not happen to you. That's why I would see 10 years into my future.
ReplyDeleteI would choose, looking ten years into my future because I would be in college playing football and baseball for Ole Miss, or I could be in the minor leagues playing baseball trying to make my dream come true. Some people might say that looking one year into the world's future is better because you can find out who wins the World Series, Super Bowl, and NBA Finals, but I would see myself go to the NFL draft or be drafted out of high school by the Boston Red Sox in ten years. So I would choose looking ten years into the future.

ReplyDeleteIf I could look ten years into my future or one year into the world's future I would choose one year into the world's future because if I looked into my future and I saw what I do when grow up, and I like it I wouldn't want to mess it up. But some may argue that seeing their future is better because they may not like it and want to mess it up. This is why I choose looking into the worlds future instead of mine.
ReplyDeleteI would rather see ten years of your own world. You could see what schools you go to. You can see what you do for a job. You could also see if your going to play sports or go to Auburn for college. You could see what you look like and how tall you are going to be. You could see if you live somewhere else than Nashville. Some people say looking one year is better because you could see other things than just you. But I don't want to see other things.That is why I think that it would be better to see your own future ten years ahead than one year of everything.

I chose this because I can see if anything bad happened and try to fix it. I also chose this because I could see what my life is like, how much I have changed, and what college I went to! Others might say that looking one year into the world's future is better because you could see what class you are in next year, If you changed or if you have grown. I choose ten years in the future over one year in the future.

I would choose 10 years into my own future because I could look to see if I am going to be pretty or ugly. I would also pick it because I could see when my parents die, where I am going to go to college,and more. Some people disagree because you can see everyone's future. That is why I would pick 10 years into my own future.

I will wake up to the news and see that Donald Trump is in prison. Some may argue that seeing one year into life is better,but I think that seeing 10 years into the future is better<3<3<3
ReplyDeleteI think that I would rather have the ability to see one year into the future of the world because you can spread the word to the world that a new invention is coming. I think that a car that you don't have to drive yourself will be invented. Also, I think that seeing ten years into your own future is neat to. I think that it is hard to decide on whether or not you want to see ten years into your own feature or see one year into the future of the whole world. But, I would rather see into the world's future than looking into my own future in ten years. I hope that you choose that too world!

ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose between seeing ten years in my future or seeing one year to the future of the world, I would choose choose ten years into my future. One, because I could see what I would turn out to be when I'm in my twenties. Two, if it turned I could fix it. Finally I would choose it so I could see how my family was doing so I can take care of them when I'm older/younger. Now some may argue that seeing one year into the world's future is better but, what if the world's not around anymore? There would be no point. So that is why I think that seeing ten years in my future is better.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pick between seeing 10 years into MY future or seeing the WORLD'S future I would pick MY future. I would pick my future because so that I can see if Taco Bell is still around, who my siblings are married to, who the future president is, what college I go to, and if I have a boyfriend. (GROSS) There are many more too, but those are just off the top of my head. Yes people would probably want to see if the gas prices go down the up and how the economy is. So would you rather see 365 days or 3,650 days!!
ReplyDeleteI would rather see 10 years into my own future, because not a lot can change in just a year.If you see the years into your future, you could see what college you get into. See if you get married to or see who you get married to. You could see what your job is. You could also see what the world is like. All thought some people may argue that seeing one year into the world is better I don't think that that would be as fun. Not a lot will have changed. You would still have the same present and new inventions take more than a year to make. That is why I think that seeing 10 years into your future is better than seeing one year into the world.

I choose seeing myself in 10 years because i can see what college I go to, if i'm happy with my life, and change my future its not looking so bright. Some might say 1 year into the future of the world to see what chaos is going on and if they can avoid it. But I think Seeing My future is better.
ReplyDeleteI would rather see 1 year into the world life. First of all you'll be able to stop something bad from happening to the world. Second of all if you had the ability to look 10 years into the future your life 10 years from now would be a surprise. My last reason why is because you could see the problems of the 1 year before they happen, and if it was bad then you could tell people to get ready and you could get yourself ready. But some people may say that you could see if you die in 10 years so you could prevent that. And those are the reasons why I would want to be able to go 1 year in time and see the world.
