Would You Rather Part 4

Dear students,

For your final blog posts, you will write a persuasive paragraph in a series called "Would You Rather." In each post, I will give you a scenario, and you will have to defend your answer using the following criteria:

  • topic sentence stating your opinion
  • At least 3 supporting sentences defending your opinion
  • One counter argument
  • A concluding sentence summarizing your writing

Here is your "Would You Rather" for today:

Would you rather always have to say everything on your mind or never speak again?

Please remember to check for mistakes by reading aloud your post to yourself before you publish it. I cannot wait to see what you write!

Your teacher,
Ms. B :)

  1. If I had the choice to choose between never speaking again or say what is always on my mind I would choose to never speak again. For example, I have too many secrets on my mind! Also, what if I say something negative in my mind right in front of their face! Well it won't come out of my mouth if I never speak again. Some say they would want to say what is always on their mind because it might just not be negative. But what if it is? Just to be safe I would never want to talk again.

  2. If I had to choose between saying whatever is on my mind or never speaking again I would choose never speaking again. For example, If I always said what was on my mind I could hurt someone's feelings badly. Also, if I was thinking about something scary and I said that scary thing out loud I could have scared someone. Finally, if I said whatever was on my mind people would probably think I was annoying because I always have a lot of stuff on my mind. However, some people say always saying what is on your mind because you would at least be able to talk. This is why I would choose never speaking again rather then saying whatever is on my mind.

  3. If I had to choose between saying everything that came in my mind or not saying anything at all I would choose to not speak here's why. First, I will not say anything in the middle of class. Second, I could be quiet and not get in trouble. Third, it would be peaceful without me jabbering away all the time. However, losing your voice could be bad because you would have to learn sign language. That is why I choose to not speak.

  4. If I had the choice to always say what I am thinking or to never speak again. I would choose to always speak what I am thinking.1 because sometimes I think of something then forget it. 2 if that happens I will just say it right away(if someone is not speaking).3 is that if someone told me to tell someone else something then right when I see them then I will tell them right away and not forget. My counter agrunment is some people might not want to speak again because if they are thinking a bad word then they will have to say it wich might get them in troulbe(but I am fine with it). That is why I choose to always spaek what I am thinking.

  5. If I had to choose between saying everything on my mind or not talking I would choose not talking. Here is why. 1 I could get that translater that the monkey in cloudy with a chance of meatballs has. 2 I could be a stealth Ninja dressed like a Narwhal by day and Unicorn by night. 3 I could be really good at hide and seek cause I can't laugh. My counter argument is some people might love talking.
I hope you have learned something from that.

  6. I rather never speak again because I have a lot of secrets, and I don't want to blurt them out. Also if I get mad at someone I don't want to say anything mean. Finally, I think a lot, so I would do I lot of talking, and I would run out of breath. Some people might want to say everything on their mind because they could let their secrets right out. I think that it would be better to never speak again rather than saying everything on my mind.

  7. If I had the choice between saying everything on my mind or never speaking again, I would choose to say everything on my mind. Sometimes, I would be really mad at someone in my mind, but they would be able to hear what I'm thinking. Or, I would not like someone's clothes, and they would be able to hear what I'm thinking. Even I would want to scream and they still would be able to hear me. I think that I would be able to learn to control my feelings so I don't make others mad. Other people might want to never talk again because they don't think you can control what you're thinking and you might hurt others feelings. I would rather say everything on my mind than never speak again.

  8. If I had to choose to either always speak my thoughts or never speak again, I would choose to never speak again. I would choose that because I could communicate in other ways. For instance, I could just write it down on paper. I could also use hand signals or sign language. I could also communicate by making faces to represent feelings. However, some people would prefer to always speak their mind, but if you did that, you would get into deep trouble. For instance, if you were in the lunch line, after saying what you want, you would have to say something mean like "Eww! Why am I getting this?" That is why I would choose to never speak again.

  9. If I had to choose between always saying what's on my mind or never speak again, I would choose to always say what is on my mind here is why. 1, if I say everything that I am thinking I could give an opinion about something without someone trying to stop me. 2, If I say everything on my mind I could yell it at the other team hockey games. 3, If I say what is on my mind I Wouldn't be bossed around by my sister. Some may say if I say everything on my mind that I might say something that I might not of wanted to say. But all in all I would prefer to say everything that is on my mind than to to never speak again.

  10. If I had to say everything on my mind or never speak again, I would never speak again. I could write everything I needed to say on a piece of paper. I could also use sign language. Lastly, I could still do everything I do right now, like tennis. Some people would want to say everything on their mind, but they could say mean or rude things. That is why I would never speak again.

If I could say whatever is on my mind or never speak again, I would never speak again. First of all, you don't want to know what I think. While I am writing this I am repeatedly singing the Clarence theme song.
Second of all, I might hurt someone's feeling if I said what was on my mind. Once again somethings in my mind could make you cry.
And third of all, I would never stop talking. I know my classmates would hate that, Mrs. Blackmon and Mrs. Ward also. Although some say both is horrible but they have to choose what's on your mind, I would say to them You can't control your thoughts. And I am right.

  12. If I had to choose say everything in my mind or never speak again, I would choose to say everything in my mind because I don't want to say everything again. And another reason why is because I don't have to point of what i'm having incase I go out to dinner. And that I wouldn't have to stop talking to my friends. Although, some people may choose never speak again because they can just stop talking for good. But if I had to choose, I would choose speaking in my mind.

  13. If I had to pick to never speak again or I could speak but I had to say what I am thinking too. I would choose to speak. Here are a couple of reasons why, I could actually speak to my teachers, friends, and family. Second, I would be able to answer questions and hang out with my friends and talk to each other. Finally, If I can't talk I probably would have to write what I want to say on a piece of paper. But, others may say that it might not be a good idea because if they were saying something mean in their head they wouldn't have to say it outloud. Those are some reasons why I want to be able to speak rather than not being able to speak at all.

  14. If I had a choice to never talk again or say whatever I am thinking, I would never talk again. I would never talk again because what if you were thinking something bad then you would say it out loud? Also, if you were talking to a friend and say you did not like what they are doing you would say it out loud. You could really hurt someones feelings. Some People might say that saying what you think is the best choice because you could always think nice things. Hey you got to admit, not all of us think nice things. This is why I would choose never talk again ( even though it would be really really hard.)

  15. If I had to choose between never speaking again or saying what is on my mind I would choose never speaking again. I would choose never speaking again because I could talk to myself. I would also choose this because I can't have secrets. I also did not choose always saying what's on your mind because I can't get embarrassed because I will not have anything to say. Although some might think saying whatever is on your mind is better because you can talk with other people but when you are having a conversation you have to think of what to say next so you would be interrupting people. That is why I think never talking again is better than saying what ever is on your mind.

  16. If I had to choose between always saying what's on my mind or never speaking again, I would choose always saying what's on my mind, because, first of all, if you don't have a voice, it is hard to explain your problems to your friends and family. Also, if you don't have a voice, you can't give speeches, or answer questions, when you are an adult. If you say what's on your mind, you say things you wouldn't normally say about what is wrong if you are having a bad day, and your family or friends can help you, because they know what's wrong. Some people might argue that if you say what's on your mind you can hurt someone's feelings, for example,"Your project doesn't look good.", but I say that you can always cover up, so you can say, "Your project doesn't look good, it looks great!" I would rather always say what's on my mind than never speak again.

If I had to chose between saying everything I think or never speak again,I would never speak again. If you never spoke again than you would never have to speak to people who are annoying. It would be cool to never speak again so you could use a special computer that says what you type. You would have to write everything down, but who cares. Some people would want to sat everthing on their mind because it would be cool. Thanks for reading!!!:)

  18. If I had the choice to always say what's on my mind or never speak again I would never speak again. I have a lot of secrets, and private things going around in my mind. I wouldn't want to blurt out one of my secrets in front of people. I could also hurt someone's feelings if I'm thinking something bad about that person. Some people might argue that they wouldn't want to give up talking, and that if you didn't have a voice there would be a lot of things you couldn't do in life. I would rather keep my thoughts to myself, and not hurt people's feelings.

  19. I would never speak again because no one would tell you to be quiet. If you chose to say everything that is on your mind something bad might come out. Finally you could learn sign language to talk. However some people would say what is on their mind to tell people what they are thinking. That is why I chose never speak again.

  20. If I had to choose between loosing your voice for ever , or keeping your voice ,but you talk about everything in live , I would have to chose to talk all the time .First of I can drive all of my friends crazy.Plus , you can talk about all your favorite things . Most of all, You can speak fast and talk about airplanes. However , some people think they would never talk again . Well what happens if the teacher is asking a question ? So think again! This is why I would always like to talk . # speak man.

  21. If I had to choose between saying whats on my mind or never speaking again I would choose saying whats on my mind. I NEED to talk or I will be sad. If you had a secret go in a corner and say it. Although a bunch of things would slip out that you wouldn't want anyone to here but if they also say what was on their mind then you would just know that they didn't mean it... Hopefully. I would miss not being to talk. If somthing I did NOT want anyone to know not to come out then I would just hold my breath and run away. Those are the reasons of why I need to talk.

  22. I would choose never speaking again over saying everything on your mind. One reason is if you said everything you might say a bad word or tell your deepest darkest deepest deepest deepest hamburgeriest secrets. also when someone shows you something and you think it's not good than you will say it is bad and hurt their feelings. I can't even see a little why you would rather say everything on your mind.

  23. If I had to choose between always saying what's on my mind or never speaking again I would choose to say nothing at all. First I would choose this because you could still write things down if you had to. You would always have to think before you write, so you would not hurt people's feelings. I would choose this because if you had secrets that you would keep and you were thinking about it right then you would have to say it. Which is bad because you could never be trusted with anything. Lastly, I would choose this because you would hurt a lot of people's feeling. If you hurt a lot of people's feeling you would not have any or not many friends. However, some people may say that saying everything on your mind is better because you could still speak. I think saying nothing at all is better.

If I could chose between never speaking again or saying everything that is on my mind I would chose to say everything on my mind. One reason is because I could just whisper it so people wouldn't hear it because technically that is still speaking. Another reason is because if you couldn't talk you couldn't say anything. For example, if your friend is sad you might think she is happy so then you will be happy for her. Then she will get offended because she thought you were happy that she was sad. My last reason is because if you don't speak then you will have to write down what you were going to say or do sign language and your hands would get really tired. That would be annoying. However, some people could argue that never speaking again is better because you don't have to say what you were thinking in front of someone because it could be a negative comment about them but as I said, you could just whisper it under your breath so they can't here it. This is why I chose speaking everything I am thinking instead of never speaking again.

  25. If I had to say whatever I was thinking or never speak again, I would chose to never speak again. Here's why:
First, If you wanted to talk, write it down or type it on the computer. Second if you spoke everything on your mind, you may end up hurting someone's feelings, or telling everyone your deepest darkest secret. Third, just use sign language. Some people think it's good to say what's on their mind because they can always tell the truth, but what if you had a lie? What if you were talking to someone you didn't like? You would say you didn't like them. That would really hurt their feelings. This is why I chose never to talk again rather than saying what is on your mind.(If I ever had to do that:)

  26. If I had to choose between never speaking again or saying every thing your thinking. I would choose never speaking again because if you had to speak everything on your mind it would be enberessing cause if you were thinking of your darkest secret you would have to say it no matter what! If someone said something mean that you didn't like or you thought was annoying you would have no choice but to tell them something like "your so annoying just stop talking!!!! and that's just mean! So I would just never talk again.

  27. I would choose having to never speak again instead of saying everything on my mind. First of all, you could really hurt someone's feelings if you are thinking about something about them! Second of all, you would always have to blurt out in class! For example, if your teacher asks a question and you knew the answer, you would immediately have to blurt it out! On the other hand, some people might think that people won't understand you if you had to learn sign language. Even though that might be true, you could bring a lot of paper wherever you go so you could write down what you want to say. That is why I would choose never speaking again.

  28. If I had to choose between never speaking again or saying what is on my mind , I would choose to speak my mind, because if you had something bad to say to someone then I would go to a corner and say it to the wall and then come back they. Also you could talk to my friends I could not talk to my friends if I had no voices.Finley sometimes you speak your mind anyways. Some my say that you could hurt someone's feelings but you could go talk to the wall and it would by find. that is why I would talk.

  29. If I had to choose to say everything on your mind or never talk again I would choose to never talk again. Here's why:
If I could never talk again I could just learn some sign language. Also if you said everything on your mind you could never technically think again because you would just interrupt people. And if you dream you would talk all the time in your sleep. However some people may think saying every thing on your mind is better because you could give an opinion on something without someone interrupting me. But I still think never speaking again is better than saying everything on my mind.

  30. If I had to choose between never speaking again or always speaking my mind, I would choose never be able to speak again. Here are 3 reasons why: 1) If I was thinking of my deepest secret, everybody would know what it was. 2) You could always write it out on a something portable. 3) You would never get teased about your voice. However, people might think always speaking your mind is better because you would never forget what you were going to say but I choose other whys. That is why I choose never speaking again over always speaking your mind.

  32. If I had to speak every thing I thought it would be a disaster, so that is why I would never talk again. Think about this let's say you were with your friend and she/he said something weird, so you thought about something that was cruel, and you had to say it out loud. That's why I would never talk again.
