In writing, we learned to improve our writing by presenting counter arguments in our essays. Today, I will give you a thesis statement for which you must write a counter argument paragraph. Remember a counter argument has the following structure:
Although (thesis statement), some may argue that (counter argument). For example,(evidence for counter argument). However, (evidence for your thesis). Closing sentencerestating your thesis.
Although I love ice cream, some may argue that cake is better. For example, cake is used for celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, and baby showers. However, one can have ice cream cake or cake batter ice cream for any occasion. I love ice cream because it is the most wonderful, versatile treat!
Now, it is your turn. Write a counter argument paragraph for the following thesis statement:
Kids should be paid for making good grades.

ReplyDeleteFor example, they already technically DO get paid because you don't buy food for yourself your WHOLE life. Because your parents adore you. However, we work hard to get good report cards, and some people worry a lot about tests. That's why kids should get paid for good grades.
Kids should be paid money for making good grades because kids will try harder in school. If kids got money for making good grades everyone in the school would super smart, and that would make the school like super good. Some may say that if we paid kids for making good grades then we would run out of money. That is not true. Everyone would want to come to this school, and we would get lots of extra money to pay the students. That is why students should get paid for making good grades.

DeleteKids should be paid for getting good grades. It would be like our mom and dad would be our foremans. Any time we got a good grade they would pay us 100 dollars and 1 cent. I would get a good grade on getting all of the number stories problems right.
ReplyDeleteStudents should get paid because we would be rich by the end of the year, and because we would work 1,000,000 times harder. Some people might think that the school would lose money, but the school would not because they would get money from new kids coming. Also the parents would not yell because the kids would not get out of bed. The kids would just hop out of bed, and yell "Pay Day!" That is why kids should get paid for getting good grades.

DeleteI think kids should be paid for getting good grades. I am usually an A-B student so I'd be rich beyond imaginable. Though some people (parents) would say "You have to be older to be paid!" I say "NOPE!" Because seriously, I get a dollar every day for being awesome! Wait, now that I think of it I do get paid for getting good grades. OK don't forget anything I said, because you could show this to your parents, but I want to keep it this way, I get paid and your parents get to decide about you getting a lot of money for getting good grades. DeleteKids should not get paid for good grades because we are already are spoiled enough! Money on birthdays, Christmas, and other times! Some people are not as lucky as us! The money should not go to us if we get good grades, it should be going to orgaizations like the Nashville food project, or others. That is why kids should not get money for good grades.

Also, I really think that kids do not need any money for school because you really don't need the money as much as others do. This is why I do not think kids should get money for their grades.

I think we should get paid because our teachers would not even have to look at our test because they know that we would get a 100%. This is why I think kids should be able to get paid if they get a good grade.
