In writing, we have learned to improve our writing by presenting counter arguments in our essays. Given the following thesis statement, please write a "counter argument" paragraph utilizing the writing skills we have practiced in class.

Kids should have an extra month of summer vacation.

Although having another month of summer would be so much fun, some may argue that kids need to be in school longer to get a better education. For example, you would get into a better college if you were in school longer. However, kids work so hard during the school year so they deserve a longer summer vacation. Therefore, I think kids should be able to have a extra month of summer vacation.
ReplyDeleteKids should have a extra month of summer vacation because we should have an almost equal balance of school and vacation, and with an extra month, it would balance it out a little more. Also, we deserve more time to recover from a long year of school work and toil. That is why we should get a extra month of summer vacation.

For example, everyone wants summer, even Ms. Blackmon! So give us children and teachers more Summer! However, starting late may make us finish late but who cares? In conclusion, we need more summer!

DeleteAlthough I think kids should have a extra month of summer vacaontion some may argue that you will learn less. For example, if you are out of school for too long it will be harder to think. However, it would be easier for parents and kids because parents wouldn't have to take their kids to school each day. I know that kids should have a extra month.

DeleteAlthough I think that kids should not have one more month of summer vacation because they need to learn, some may argue that kids need more time to run and play. For example, if you have more time to run around, you might be able to sit still and learn much better if you get your energy out in the extra month of summer. However, kids have recess and P.E. every day at school to get their energy out, and it is important to get a good education in order to get a good job, and a good job is important for a good life. Therefore, I think that summer break should remain the same length that it is now.

ReplyDeleteI think we should have one more month of summer because us kids work hard at school we need a longer break from the pressure! Are you with me? Here is one reason why we need one more month, my reason is we sometimes want to go to more camps and we want to have more fun! But NO!!! We don't get the freedom! You know how you hate Mondays? Some may think that we will forget everything that we learned, but the teachers could give us an extra month's work of summer homework. (But I wouldn't mind if they didn't.) That is why we should have an extra month of summer!

ReplyDeleteAlthough kids should have an extra month of vacation (which would be awesome) some may argue that they should be in school more because if they get an extra month of summer they will get 1 less month of school and one less month of school means you will not get as good of an education as most of the kids in college today. On the other hand the kids work so hard the deserve an extra month of summer.

What if we want to go to another place but school is in the way. You have to put back on your uniform insted of shorts and a t-shirt. This is why we need to have an extra month of summer vacation.

You can go to the beach longer, or do whatever you do longer. More free time, more pool time, and more everything time! More time at the pool, less time at the school. ReplyDeleteAlthough I think (by that I mean I'm right) that kids should have another month if summer vacation, some (I don't know who)may argue that it is not a good idea. For example, some may say that you need to get as much education in as possible, but the teachers give a bunch of summer homework anyway. Besides, who wants to learn math facts or how to spell, when you can be jumpin' on a trampoline with your brother or sister? Also, all of our muscles are going stiff because we are in a chair, while we could be outside sprinting around! I DEMAND MORE SUMMER BREAK!!!
ReplyDeleteKids should get an extra mouth of summer because they can get lots of vitamin D. Another reason why is because kids can learn whatever they want to. Some may say kids need to keep learning, but they would be learning life lessons. Life lessons are way more important then math. That is why we should get more summer.

However, I say kids should have an extra month of school because I know I would read and maybe even do a little math to keep up in school. I would also write stories with big words so I would keep up with writing and word study. I'd probably even do a little science expeiriment for fun. Kids should have an extra month of vacation.
