What Exactly is a Blog?

Dear students,

What exactly is a blog, and why are we using it in 4th grade? We will use the blog to communicate about different things we discuss in class. Our online posts will extend our conversations from class, and allow us to see what other classmates are thinking as well.

We will use the blog for many different things. Often I will write a post, and you will be asked to respond to it for homework. For example, we might post about different reading strategies, or use it to respond to poetry in the spring. However, this year I would also love to have students write a blog post, and classmates can respond to their post.

Today, I am interested in your thoughts about the blog. Please answer the following questions:

1. What excites you about the blog?

2. What questions do you have about the blog?

3. What ideas do you have for future blog posts or using the blog?

    I am excited about writing neat stories and sharing them with my friends.
    Will we be able to look at each others writing and give suggestions?
    I will use the blog to share ideas to my friends for writing a good story.

    Something that excites me about the blog is that you get ask your class about something if you need help. Why do we need a blog and what is it for. I plan on asking for some help if i need it.

    I am excited to post and hear others perspectives of the objective that we are learning. I was wondering if we ever get to post, you know, and let our classmates leave comments maybe? And I was thinking that for the future posts, that we do stuff directly about school. Like, science, reading, writing, and maybe social studies? Thank you for asking!

    1.What excites me about the blog is that we get to show what we are learning in class through the blog, instead of getting a bunch of emails.
    2.My question is: Can anyone else that has this website can see what we are learning or saying?
    3.I think that over the year our blog will grow. We will most likely have more questions and they will get harder.

    What excites me about the blog I think it is a cool idea to blog with our class so if we have a question about something we can ask you on our class's blog.

    I dont really have eny question about the blog,I have bloged before in a class in 3 rd
    grade

    I will be exited to use the blog because if am not at school that day I can come on the blog and see what we did today in class. Is it going to be similar to our email except it's just our class and its for reading and writing? In the future, I may want to see what my friends have been writing about.

    What excites me about the blog is how we can write and answer questions about interesting topics.

    The questions I have about the blog are If Mrs.Ward's class will be sharing the same blog, It doesn't bother me if they are, I am just curios. My other question is if we can ask personal questions about future classes.

    My ideas for future blog post are if we can share ideas about presentations/projects to make them more interesting.

    Well I don't really know what a blog is so i'm really excited to learn and do. How do we actually send stuff to each other and look at our assignments for class and homework. Different ways everybody thinks and how they learn. I am excited to blog writing and reading.

    I think the one thing that excites me is that we get to discuss everything together!
    I do not have any questions right now, but I will probally have questions once I run into them. I do not know what things we could discuss but I will later on.

    I'm exited for the blog because it is a new way to chat to one another and I have never done a blog before so I am exited for that too.

    My questions about the blog are why is it something we have to do in the class and why is it a good practice for our minds.

    My ideas for the blog in the future might be to make the website better so you can do more and new things on the website

    Im exited to see what you say in your blog. Also i'm exited that we can talk to each other.
    Can we send something to someone and they are the only people to get it. Also can we post a picture and put a caption under it. When are we going to get to post a blog. I dont have any ideas but I bet I can think of one.
