Dear Readers,
As an avid reader, I often find myself finishing a great book or an interesting article, and desperately wanting to share my thoughts with someone. When I lived in Charleston, I was lucky enough to have a group of friends who shared a passion for reading, so we formed a book club. While I am not in the same city as my book club anymore, I still reach out to my friends and family in Nashville, to discuss my wonderings and opinions about literature.
As a classroom of learners, we have created a community geared toward having a teachable spirit, so we may grow to become people of knowledge, wisdom, and ultimately character. One way we do this is by reading and forming ideas and connections that begin to shape us. In order to support this work, this blog will serve as a way to discuss various things when we are not in the class. Essentially, the blog will become a virtual classroom.
For example, I might post about a response about Thank You, Mr. Falker by explaining my connection to the character, Trish. I might say how much I relate to her overcoming an obstacle with the help of a teacher and how motivated I was to find out the author was the one who overcame her learning hurdle and became a published author. You will have the same chance to post your reactions, but also, to respond to what someone else might say. In this way, our posts become a conversation when we are away from the classroom.
As we begin this online blogging adventure, I challenge you to bring your working minds to the keyboard and let me know your thoughts and feelings about literature. We have so much to discover ...
So, join the community! Come on in, pull up to a computer, let me know your thoughts about literature and our blogging opportunity. I believe the blog will be a wonderful opportunity for our class to communicate in a unique way.
Write about the following in your comment below:

ReplyDeleteLitature is part of my life because I love creating caracters that don't exist. It allows me to express myself and imagine there real. I like reading and writing because like to get lost in my book that i am writing or reading. The reason I am always reading non fiction is because I love to imagine things that are not real. One character I have connection with is Hermione inn Harry Potter because she loves to learn new things and explore and have fun with her friends just like me.
ReplyDeleteI have made a strong connection with Nikki from Dork Diary's. It seems like every day starts out bad for her. For example her sister will steal her alarm clock and she'll sleep in and be late to school. Once my brother took my watch to time him running and I've got my alarm set on it. So I slept in till 7:15 and I usually get up at 6:45. I had to rush to get ready and I was a little late for school, But at least I wasn't tired during school!

ReplyDeleteWhy literature is a part of my life is because I read and wright every day if I didnt read and wright every day or at least every weak i would not be very good at reading or writing and we need to read and wright if we cant read we cant read a letter from a friend or someone special,or we cant read books. ReplyDeleteLiterature is a part of my life in a lot of ways. I love writing, and I like putting my ideas down on paper, so everyone can enjoy them! I also love to read, to see where people's imagination takes them. I enjoy it so so so much!!!! I mean, how do people come up with these ideas? It's just really crazy to see someone come up with this unimaginable idea that could really become a sensation! I just love it. A connection I have made in my book, The magician's nephew, I have made a lot of connections with Polly. Yes, I sometimes think some ideas are a little off, (and sometimes they are,) and sometimes I can't stop myself from doing something that I have no control over. It sounds weird, but it just sometimes happens. Wow, I'm saying sometimes a lot.
ReplyDeleteLiterature is a big part of my life because my mom and I write poetry together to help us bond. I connect to Rachel because she loves birds. She also wants to grow up and study birds.
ReplyDeleteLiterature plays a very large role in my life. I love to read and write but most of all I love to discuss what I have felt and what I have learned from reading a book. I especially love to curl up with some of my favorite books by Kate DiCamello and read for hours. My whole family has a passion for literature. I also have a connection with India Opal from Because Of Winn-Dixie.
ReplyDeleteLitertaure is something that is easy for me. I love to read and I love talking about what I read. For example I love answering questions about certian books I read and love. I also have a connection with Ginny Weasly from Harry Potter. She can sometimes be shy and also at times she belives that if she trys she can acoplish a lot of things!

I love to read a good book and get into the reading zone. Even though it might have a boring part in the book it will make sense later in the book. I am kinda like Tommy in Treasure Hunters because he ls curious like me.
ReplyDeleteliterature takes an important role in my life. I believe that nothing is better than curling up in your bed and reading a good book. In my book The Thickety I have a strong connection with Kara. Because she is a loving older sister who stands up for who she loves. Because her mother was said to be a witch but Kara stood up for her eavan though she was infact a witch.
ReplyDeleteLiterature is easy for me because I can record my reading and even do a book club with some of my friends. Talking about the books I read mean you half to read the story because if you say something wrong everyone else knows you did not read the book so that is why I am trying to love to read and remember what happens in the story. The blog is a new way for me to talk to one another when I am out of town or on the weekend or anywhere this is a website were you can share your thoughts what on your mind talk to the teacher or even talk to classmates. Literature help me go threw my life because if you do not know about Literature its hard to read signs on where to go and to read a menu read a book or even type on a computer that is why Literature is important to me because I need to open my self to the world to show them that I can use my Literature to help my with my whole life. I have made a connection with the book Sidney and Norman I connect to Sidney because I am not always on schedule I am a little messy some times I am not always on track with my homework and not everyone looks up to me like they do to Norman.
ReplyDeleteLiterature is a part of my life because I like writing my own books I sometimes just grab a few pieces of paper and start writing and I let my imagination flow. I have a connection with Big Nate he likes to write comics and so do I.
ReplyDeleteI have a connection with Trish from the book Thank you Mr.Falker because I sometimes strugle with math, reading and writing as well. But I also got someone to help me just like how Mr.Falker helped Trish. And when I was In second grade I went to a school for two months in Arizona and ever sence I went I have been tootering with her on a computer because she lives in Arizona. But I think Literature plays a big part in my life because when ever we write I always have a lot of fun with it, and I like getting into the story when I read and the zone.
ReplyDeleteLiterature is apart of my life in different ways. Example: I like reading sports-fiction,non-fiction,posters,and other things like road signs, and cards. I really like typing so I really liked the idea on starting a blog with everybody.
ReplyDeleteMy characters I am comparing are Total from the Timmy Failure series and Percy Jackson from the Percy Jackson series. A similarity I found was that they are characters from well known series. Some differences I found was that Total is a polar bear while Percy is a human. Total is from the Arctic while Percy is from New York. I enjoy reading about their adventures.
