Dear Writers,
In writing, we learned to improve our writing by presenting counter arguments in our essays. Today, I will give you a thesis statement for which you must write a counter argument paragraph. Remember a counter argument has the following structure:
Although (thesis statement), some may argue that (counter argument). For example, (evidence for counter argument). However, (evidence for your thesis). Closing sentence restating your thesis.
Although I love ice cream, some may argue that cake is better. For example, cake is used for celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, and baby showers. However, one can have ice cream cake or cake batter ice cream for any occasion. I love ice cream because it is the most wonderful, versatile treat!
Now, it is your turn. Write a counter argument paragraph for the following thesis statement:
Homework is useless.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I think that homework is useless others may argue that it s not. For example it is good practise.But I think homework is useless becuase we are already learning the stuff that is in the homework at school so why redo it? I think homework is pointless.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think homework is useless,some may argue that homework helps you because if you are not understanding something during class if you go home and do it again maybe you will understand it better.I still think homework is useless because it waste a lot of time just doing something that you did not like during class.

However if you haft to do too much homework you will miss all of the things you will do after school. Homework is bad because we can miss all of the important stuff we do.

However, homework takes up your family time, play time, and teachers load us up with homework. Homework is useless because it is the most boring and terrible thing.

But homework may make you stay up later and you would be tired in the morning. That is why I think homework is useless.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think homework is useless some may argue that homework is useful because it gets you better at what you learned that day but if you are already going to school for seven hours a day you do not need to do more schoolwork at home so pretty much your doing nine or ten hours of school a day. That is why homework is useless.

They will grade on how neat it is, how well you did it, and if you actually did it. However, since it is useless, teachers don't have to make you do it, and then they won't have to grade it at all. The reason people may say homework is useful is because they are willing to do more work also they may just enjoy it. However, in my opinion homework makes no sense because you just had a whole day of learning and work!!!!!!! That is why I think home work is useless.

For example, the homework may give you the answers if you were taking a test. But why I think homework is useless because you might be busy or might wanting to play and get active. For example you can learn more by doing home work {not that i like it} that you could by going out side and playing with a dog. However that makes me mad because it takes time to hang out with family and play witch brings me back to the main thing in life:"Every body in America gets freedom! Although homework is useless some may argue that homework is helpful. For example,if you have a test to study for homework. Homework is useless because it takes up a lot of time. I think homework is useless because it takes up time.
