Each new year, two of my cyber-mentors challenge teachers to find their One Little Word (OLW). The OLW is one word that will represent, or symbolize, the year ahead. The word should be personal and thoughtful. My mentors spend weeks thinking about their OLW, making sure they select a word that will really guide them.
I have thought a great deal about my OLW. For 2014, I selected "trust" as my One Little Word. I selected "trust" because I don't always trust God's plan and try to make my own way. I need this word to remind me to trust not only His plan for me, but also to trust in the strengths and talents He has blessed me with, rather than worry about the future. Trust can apply to my life in so many ways - through friends, work, my students, my family, myself, and ultimately, God's plan for me. I will use this word to guide me through the days of 2014.

The one little word I choose is believe. Last year, I did not believe in myself or my friends. As a result of not doing this, I did not have any fun. Also, one of the most important things in life is believing your friends, family, and God. If you do, things will be easier in life for everyone. The one little word I choose is a word that will help you a lot.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word for 2014 is self-control. I picked this word because I get a little crazy at home. It will be hard for me to because the only reason of me getting crazy is because I have two sisters. But when I really think about I know I shouldn't be that way. I'm going to try to keep my word for the new year 2014!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy OLW is honesty. I want to be honest and true to everyone and everything. I also selected honesty because I am not always honest with people. I will use this word to pop in my mind and always remind me that honest is the path. Tell the truth. This year that changes with my OLW.

My word for 2013 is PRESENT. In the past I have had trouble living in the present. I have been living scared of what the future holds for me. I've also been living in the past thinking about why should I do this again it didn't work out before. So this year I am going to try to live in the present. And believe what the future holds is one of Gods great plans.
ReplyDeleteMy little word is "finish". I picked finish becuase I sometimes just give up and I need to start finishing everything I start. For example when something is to hard and I try,try,try and I can't do it... I quit. I hope by the end of the year I give up less and finish more.
ReplyDeleteMy OLW for 2014 is new. The reason I chose this word is I want to try new stuff. I think this will be hard for me is that i never try new stuff like go ice skating or go out roller skating.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word is teamwork. I chose this word because in basketball I think that it is all about me because I steal the ball or make a three. This word can guide me through life and also help me. I will use this word in many things that I am good at. I need to start helping others instead of myself.
ReplyDeleteMy little word is try. I picked try because I need to try my hardest throughout the school year and also in every subject. It is good to try your hardest in everything you do because if you dont you probly wont get the grade you wanted if you dont try.
ReplyDeleteThe word I chose is listening. I chose this word because a lot of the time I have a hard time doing it. My dad tells me if I would listen then life would be more easier.I think listening involves with a lot of thing to.I think Listening is a word that I really need to work on.
ReplyDeleteI had some deep thinking for my word.I came up with the word "integrity".This word will help me remember that in times when things do not go my way or when I want to quit that I need to have integrity and keep trying.Also when things seem impossible to know that it's better to go down trying then to go down knowing that you gave no effort at all.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word is respect.In my life I use respect to my parents, Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles,So I'm showing them I care. This year I'm going to use respect to my teachers ,and my classmates.For example When the teacher is reading out loud at the rug I will show respect by staying quite.
ReplyDeleteMy OLW is improve. I picked improve because I want to improve in basketball, reading, and getting along with my family. Another reason I picked improve because I want to get better a somethings over the year. I hope that I will set good challenges a to improve on this year.
ReplyDeleteThe word that I picked was inspire. I chose the word inspire because I like to inspire friends and family to try new things. I inspire friends and family by trying new foods and new games. We should reach out and inspire friends and family. The word inspire will help me threw out 2014
ReplyDeleteMy one little word for 2014 is strength. I chose strength because God's plan for me may contain some bumps in the road and sometimes I need the strength to get through every single bump. I chose strength as my word because of it's meaning. The meaning of strength is you pushing through any hard times and God being with you. I also think that this word can make you get through any thing that is thrown at you. I really think that this word will change the way I look at this year.
ReplyDeleteMy OLW for 2014 is, "COURAGE." I chose courage because I need to have courage in everything I do like homework, test, or anything else. Also I thought that it was a good word so you can always have courage in your self.
ReplyDeletemy one little word for this year is patience. I chose patience because if i dont get good grades on something, I will have patience with myself to try again so that i can have a second chance. I think that patience will help you to.
ReplyDeleteMy word is rest. I choose rest because a lot of times I find myself lacking in confidence. I think I would be more sure of things if it took time to think instead of rushing every thing because I am rushed.I need to take time to enjoy life. Rest can mean lots of things like sometimes instead of having a packed scedule you should do things god wants you to do.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word for 2014 is attention. I chose this word because I want to know what is happening at the moment. Some times I don't pay attention and then I don't know what to do. That is the reason I chose this word. I think this will help me in life if I improve at being attention.
ReplyDeleteTo find my word i thought about my life.My word is Try. I chose try because i want to try harder in my work. God has a plan and i want to get through it and you need to try. I picked try for my olw because i want to try harder in my sports and school work! I really think the word try will help me through this year!
ReplyDeleteMy little word is try, I think try is a good word for this year because i can try new things. It would be a great word because when you don't think you can do it you can try and if you get it then you will notice that you tried. But if you didn't make it you will remember at least I tried. It is also good because you need to try your hardest in everything. That is my word for 2014.
ReplyDeleteMy OWL for 2014 is think. I chose this word because most of the time I need to think before I say things. If I am about to say something hurtful to someone else I need to think about it and say to myself, will this hurt their feelings, and then if it will, I shouldn't say it. I know that God will forgive me if I say something hurtful to someone else, but I need to work on thinking before saying so I can become closer to God. If I use this word to guide me through 2014, I will have a great year!!
ReplyDeleteI thought an owl for me this year is truth full. Sometimes I do not tell the truth to people. I can use my owl to guide me this year by remembering my owl every time I feel like I don`t want to tell the truth. When it comes to being truth full even the little things count is what I found out about life. Even when I think I am going to get into trouble I want to try to think: God has a plan for my and my life.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word is limitless. I will try not to have limits on good things so I will mabye do one more of those that will help me later on in my lifetime. Sometimes you do need to have limits on stuff, but there are plenty of stuff that are good for you and you can do as many times as you want to. I will try not to have limits n good things this year.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word is exercise. I choose exercise because I didn't do it and now I have started to exercise a couple of days a week. I want to start to exercise so I can run faster because I usually run out of breath sometimes very easily and I want to get better at not doing that.
ReplyDeletemy one little word for 2014 is now I chose now because sometimes I think about the future and how really good things are going to happen and how bad things might happen and I don't pay attention on what is going on now and sometimes I even think about the past and what has happened so far that is why I chose now.

I want to believe when I play basketball, volleyball, softball, or even doing a play! I also want to belive in my sister, Emmy when I am scared that she is going to mess up on a song in her band or she is going to forget a line. I need to believe in God's plan for me. That is why I want to believe!
ReplyDeleteMy one little word for 2014 is BOLD! I choose bold because I think it is something a lot of people need to try to do. Being bold is when you are not afraid to show who you are to the world and sticking up for other people.Bold is a part of who are or what you need to try.When I was little I got bullied by the same girl every single day for a whole school year. She was a lot older then me so I didn't think I could stand up to her. And then one day Taylor who was my neighbor stepped in and she stud-up for me. So that girl never bullied me again.So I learned if I wanted to help someone like me I would need to b bold.So I learned and still am learning how to be bold.

ReplyDeleteMy One Little Word is Commit. I chose Commit because I need to Commit more to my work. Like school work and my sports I need to commit more in that stuff and especially

I am afraid of what comes before me and what comes after me. My one little word is courage to help me overcome my fear. I can over come my fear by not thinking about it and play video games.
